I am disgusted by this movie.

To portray Anonyma's relationship with "Andrei" as romantic is a travesty. She took Anatol and the major as sexual partners purely for protection and for food. Why would Max Färberböck want to romanticize and eroticize a relationship based on fear and desperation? Perhaps he thought people wouldn't enjoy a movie about mass rape unless it involved a love story. Pathetic.

Are you kidding me? They "offered" themselves? So you really think these women had a choice in the matter? It was either be raped by anyone at any moment or look for one of the scumbags who showed a tiny bit of humanity to survive.

It was still rape if you ask me.

When you are faced with the inevitable, what do you do?

And yes, it was still rape.

I expected to see an epic film depicting the cruelty of war crime and conflict of humanity , but this movie turned out to be boring... very weak directing and editing. A complete disappointment.

Considering what the Germans did and the way they prosecuted the Russian Front in addition to other atrocities, I think Färberböck used the "relationship" between Anonyma and the Major, to demonstrate her humanity and evoke some sympathy for her. Afterall, Anonmya was a highly educated woman who was an ardent supporter of the regime. When confronted with stories of the crimes committed by German soldiers she did not believe them. Even now, it's difficult to empathize with someone who admits they were believers and supporters of that man.

Where is the evidence that she was an ardent supporter of the regime? Or that she refused to believe the stories of German atrocities?
