When was this filmed?

Was this filmed unusually long before it was released? Or was it released long before in Russia? Because I can swear I saw a report about it in cinemax way before it was released in cannes. I remember it so clearly; sepia colors, the old woman walking across the camp, the milicia, the soldier holding the old woman. I can even remember them mentioning it was russian and even the directo's name. It could be a trick of my memory, but I doubt it and I really would like to know.
