I think thats how people are supposed to feel after watching this.

This film was better than the original in every aspect (In my opinion...)

This movie doesn't make any sense!

How can Susie is actually
Mother Suspiriorum
all along? Wtf any of this has anything to do with her Mom in Ohio?

And what's with all the historical / political stuffs?? Is this random? It's confusing!

Oh, and the scene where the neck is separated then put back in it's suddenly connected and the person was like oh. But then it separates again and the person was like swithed off (insert Windows shut down sound here.) That's goofy AF! LMAO Totally ruined the horror lol.

Maybe you actually paid attention to the film it's clear from the get-go her mother senses something is off with her daughter. She grants her mother a mercy killing and comes to realize she is Mother Suspirium reincarnated.

It represents the turmoil and corruption in both the political and witches coven with abuse of power, the death of innocents and overhaul needed to right the wrong.

That last bit I agree on but there is plenty of context intricately woven into the film.

Well, okay. But how can she be
the reincarnated Mother Suspiriorum
in the first place? I don't think this was ever explained or at least shown some hints. I know I should've paid more attention, but the movie is so slow it's hard to not look away a few times.

In the case of the political stuffs. Yea, but why? The movie has no reason to conflate this three mothers story into politics. It felt like just because the director wanted to. Doesn't make it wrong, of course. I mean, if the director wanted to combine this story with other random matters, say, racism or history of German football or alien technology... it's still not wrong. Just not the best decission I think. Made the movie felt unfocussed and, well, random.

I'm not saying this movie is bad. I enjoyed watching it very much actually. The gross punishment "dance" was really well made and sucked me into the world of Suspiria to the end of the movie. The slow pace helped build the tension too. And boy, it was a suspenseful one. I'd say it's a flawed film, not a bad one.

It's hinted from the beginning with the flashback to how different she was compared to the rest of her family, her urge to go to Berlin and the obsession with Volk, academy, Blanc. It's hinted during scenes like her nightmares where she shouts "I know who I am" and throughout the film it's noticeable something is off. I think she fully realizes once the Volk performance ends and she exhales, the table dinner scene where she smirks at Madame Blanc, the clues and hints are there when you search them out.

It's to parallel the unrest and infighting in the coven as well with the corruption of power and an overhaul needing to change at the expense of life like every revolution. The director wanted to incorporate several themes and subtext which I feel worked set against the political climate of Berlin at the time as well as honoring the original Suspiria release year.

Still not explaining how and why
Mother Suspiriorum became a random American woman from middle of nowhere (Susie.)
Why not simply chose a German? Is this also has anything with the German political situation at the time?

reply

That's obviously a nod to the original Suspiria premise. Wouldn't be Suspiria (to some regard) without some resemblance of the plot or at least taking some from it.

Yes, it does have something to do with the political situation. It's far too much to type but there is a reason why it was included.

Okay.
