If you liked The Eagle, you'll really like Lone Survivor....

I loved The Eagle.

Last week I saw Lone Survivor and loved it, too.

I realized that Lone Survivor has a lot in common with The Eagle: brotherhood, courage, male camaraderie, fighting for survival, etc.

And best of all: NO FEMALE CHARACTERS (OR MUSHY ROMANTIC RUBBISH)!

Like The Eagle, Lone Survivor is a "guy movie". Go see Lone Survivor if you enjoyed The Eagle.

I aim to,most definitely. I like Marky Mark in that type of role, and no female token presence helps.

Marky Mark is very good in it. Also Taylor Kitsch. You'll see parallels between the two movies. In Lone Survivor, just like in The Eagle, the men are stranded in hostile territory fighting to get to safety against hostile inhabitants, the men are willing to die for each other etc.

Good stuff. (Used to work with the US corps for many months in the Gulf).
Haven't seen Tay K. for a while. How did the kid, Alex Ludwig do in his first higher profile part?

reply

Alex Ludwig is great!

Good to hear our Canadian cousins also making a mark again in Hollywood. Could he be one to watch in the future?

reply

I like them both too ...

And best of all: NO FEMALE CHARACTERS ...
but please ... just a really silly comment. For validation of my observation, try reversing the scenario and imagine the uproar from the male commentariat. I somehow couldn't imagine you being too happy.🐭

I didn't see the poster's comment as silly.
Some, repeat some storylines of movies have no relevant parts for a female, emphasis being on "relevant". At the end, most viewers realise the part was included as a token interest.
Sometimes I like a guys' movie, good to have a night in with a dvd, some beers and male buddies only. Surely the ladies wouldn't begrudge us that? There is a definite market out there for buddy movies and such like. Lone Survivor was one and this film, to a much lesser extent.

Bully for you.
And best of all: NO FEMALE CHARACTERS
I did ... for the reasons outlined.🐭
