Really shed some light

... On Tourette syndrome. Most people perceive it to be the way Amy Poehler characterizes it in Deuce Bigalow yelling "c*ck! *beep* ball hair!". In reality that's just how the person suffering tends cope with their uncontrollable twitches and tics that can be irritating and actually painful.

This movie educated the viewers by letting them know that there's much more to this condition, like the tendency to experience OCD, ADHD and disturbing thoughts. It also can be hard to diagnose a child, since every child copes in a different way and going through this as the child has to be devastating, feeling like a freak. It can be equalling as overwhelming for the parent who feels they're failing as a parent to figure it out for them and make them feel safe.

This movie showed me a lot of aspects about Tourettes that never occurred to me and debunked the myth that all Tourettes sufferers appear the same and that it's easy to spot because of the profanity yelling, since not all of them have this symptom.

For most people this information might seem irrelevant, but it wouldn't be if you met someone in the future who has Tourettes and parents can share this movie with their children if they're suffering from it or just to better educate them on how to treat someone with it.

This movie has much more substance than just the basics of a good movie; good acting, good script, good story. It had a real useful point to it, the value of that cannot be refunded.
