I know not many people have voted on the rating for this film, but I was wondering if anyone who has seen it can suggest why it got such a low rating.
shareMaybe, people who saw it at Sundance and wanted other films to win. I've seen it and gave it an 8. It's really good and I hope it does well in theatres.

shareAu contraire. I found it illuminating and very entertaining. Being a little bit of a misfit myself when in school, I definitely related to her. So many levels to this movie and just like one of the reviewers, I also had Phoebe moments after watching this. Very touching movie. I'm ashamed to admit that I've never read Alice in Wonderland but will make it a point to do so in the near future.
Elle is certainly following the trailblazing steps of her elder sister. She can hold her own. Was that her voice singing? If so, she has a good voice.
I can't wait to see what she has in store for the future. Hopefully she can navigate away from the traps in that befell other child stars.

Consider that to be in the top 250 the movie needs atleast an 8.0 rating and that 41.3% rated the movie a 10
Might be because many Desperate Housewives fans watched it because of Felicity Huffman and "belive" it's "extreamly" boring... ;)
Maybe not enough people who can read and appreciate indie movies rated it.

lol...I watched it because of Felicity Huffman and I am a HUGE Desperate Housewives fan and I found it to be an absolutely amazing and beautiful film.

I just voted and gave the film a 10! Absolutely brilliant! True appreciation of the film definitely requires some degree of intellect though. Perhaps those who have voted were not able to truly appreciate the subtle brilliance of the narrative and the characters' struggles etc. I think perhaps those who have not experienced (directly or indirectly) the struggles associated with high intellect, neurological disorders and/or psychiatric ilness may fail to connect with the story.
Elle Fanning and Felicity Huffman are superb in the film - I truly hope the film receives the appreciation it deserves when it is released in the US (I am shocked we actually got to see something first in Australia!)

I believe she already is a much better actress than her sister, and I think she will grow even better. Fortunately she would not have a big hype surrounding her like her sister and she will be allowed to have experiences of failure and success, which will help her learn and grow.

Excellent response. Taking a few psychology classes or personally experiencing the illness (family member, friend, etc.) would help. This is just one of those films that needs to be seen twice if the material overwhelms. Truly a GOOD film with excellent acting.

Saw it tonight... I thought it was a really sweet, nice little movie. Cute without being cutesy, sweet without being saccharine, touching without being touchy-feely. I'm sure I'm biased because "Alice in Wonderland" has been my favorite book since I was about five years old (and because like so many others, I was kind of an odd child, though without any actual medical issues, and could relate).
But yeah, I really liked it. I hope it does really poorly in theaters so I can buy it on DVD sooner. :)
