disgrace to the Marine Corps

jessica simpson as a Marine...jesus christ

reply

They changed it to the Army. The Marines said no but the Army approved the use of their name. I have been working as an extra on the movie in Louisiana.

reply

That's still an embarassment to the Army!

I'll say it's an embarassment. I doubt a brainless blonde movie star could even get past boot camp. This doesn't seem like a really funny concept for a movie.

reply

[deleted]

Yeah, because it take a lot of "brains" to be in the army. I would be fascinated to see the statistics on IQ for soldiers.
The guys from my high school that joined the army were the dumb ones who were too poor to afford room and board, or the sociopaths who wanted to shoot little brown people. I don't think brains should come into your assessment.

reply

hey jerk wad, I serve proudly in the service, and just got my masters. I joined the service to freaking defend my country. Not because i didn't have any money. Go get a freaking life. @$$Wipe.

reply

Did they say "all" or "the ones I know"?
Unless you're one of the people that the poster knew, there's no reason to get offended. The truth is, intelligence isn't a huge asset when it comes to the armed services. I imagine it's discouraged, even, all the better to make brainless warriors out of.

You want to go home?
OK...go home.

reply

That only works when you want a huge blob of men advancing across the battlefield past trenches and under fire. For the modern battlefield and especially in Asymetrical warfare you need to bring your A-game when it comes the old grey matter.

reply

So, this is how a gutless coward tries to explain to himself that he is nothing, but how that's ok.

Don't even respond to this loser. He wouldn't have the right to even post a message anywhere at anytime were it not for the United States Military member.

What a sad little worm to disparage those who keep his worthless read alive.

Right on, I agree that there are a few bright Crayons in the box, but they're few and far between, and from my perspective (being born in Atlanta and moving north to a nearly non-existent small town), a lot of the kids from my high school that joined the army were the brawniest of the brawn, but the dumbest of the dumb. I'll give it to 'em, they've got spirit and patriotism, but they don't read to well into things (keep in mind I'm talking about the ones I know, not all of our servicemen and women). In the end it's their own choice, and I'm glad as *beep* it's not my choice, nor my desire to ever join the *beep* army.

I got a 99 on the ASVAB, with a GT score of 135.
I got a 35 on my ACT.
I got a 2050 on my SAT.
My IQ is 118.
Proudly serving for 5 years now.
Hooah.

Not everyone is a dumb, poor sociopath. The Soldiers in my unit are all on the same level or higher than me.

No wonder why we lost the Iraq war.

reply

Any ways its a movie i was an extra plus i was in the army plus most of the people in the movie extras are eather prior service or took time off from active duty to do this movie if you take that in consederation only embarcment is people like you she went with the uso to Iraq an did a concert with her former husband thats more then some stars do to support the troops so stop your belly acing an ether watch the movie or stop being narrow minded an give it a chance at lest

reply

just want to add in to that last statement by saying that this is also a comedy made for entertainment value, not as an army recruitmernt ad, and not meant to be taken seriously. I would also like to add that other comedys featuring armed forces such as the army/ police etc have been made, with one of the most famous being the Police Academy series (and who in thier right mind would hire people like Bobcat to be a Police Officer) And even the movie Major Payne. When people start getting offended at silly things like comedys situated in an Army setting you know its time to lighten up. There is so much crap happening in the world right now that silly story lines are just what everyone needs. So stop complaining!

reply

In the Army Now? Even seen that movie? If they can make that movie and people watch it, I see no problem with them making this.

reply

Aside from the entertainment value of this movie. To not take it serious, if you will. Is anybody else shocked by the outline, especially the final sentence.

"She wanders from the wreckage of a car accident and witlessly enlists in the U.S. Army hoping in vain that it will change her life."

What the hell?! So, she's a irresponsible driver, granted it's her own car she crashed. And "witlessly" enlists? I know you don't have to be a rocket scientist to enlist for front line infantry, but this is making it sound like any inbred retard can join the army now. Not to mention the car accident she caused/witnessed which, in any parallel universe, would cause a police inquiry. Thus, coming up in her acceptance to the military. Fiction or reality, that's a bad signal to be sending out. Even for a comedy.

"Somebody's about to get a *beep* slap." -Morty.

reply

...oh my G..!

It's.... a... film! It's not real. People can make their own minds up and maybe not be influenced by a comedy!

reply

you people read way into things and jump to conclusions. If you don't approve of the movie, DON'T GO SEE IT. It's as simple as that.

reply

but this is making it sound like any inbred retard can join the army now.

Nah, the inbred retards wouldn't pass the check up. But dumb blonds would. :D

There was no war to begin with. Just a short battle and an occupation

reply

1) Iraq war? Not over.

2) Iraq war? Irrelevant to this thread, this "film", etc.

reply

I'm sorry, since when did we "lose" the Iraq war? I'm pretty sure no one will ever win or lose that one... we'll just either stay over there killing civilians and losing masses of our own in the proces, or we'll leave and get ridiculed for being cowardly. We're pretty much screwed either way.

reply

You were cheering for Saddam?

reply

If anything, this movie will be a GLORIFICATION of the army and how wonderful, noble, liberating and life-affirming learning to be a soldier, ie. a puppet following orders and killing people, is.

yeah, dying in a desert on a lie is slightly better then this.

reply

I honestly think that this really is a disgrace to the Army. The plotline is just God-awful, Jessica or no Jessica.
Next thing you know they'll have a movie with Lindsay Lohan as a Navy SEAL.
How much you wanna bet they don't portray how hard it really is?

reply

Not only that, but it's incredibaly unrealistic.
You're not allowed make-up in boot camp. That crap would probably be taken away from you as soon as you get there. They wouldn't allow talking back and immediately walking away- I highly doubt they're gonna let you get away with that.
Judging by the trailer..if she was doing THAT BAD in boot camp, she'd probably not last long and would get kicked out. I mean, come on, if you can't handle a gun, how are you gonna handle the rest of the Army? She'd have to be in physical shape most likely before she even got there.
I'd love to see her survive the "Gas Chamber" (tear gas, people). THAT would be interesting.

Sorry for my little tirade, but I just think this movie is so idiotic and disgraceful.

Anyone seen the old movies/TV shows, Gomer Pyle, McHale's Navy Navy, Operation Petticoat, South Pacific, Mister Roberts, I could go on, you watch movies for entertainment, escape reality! Go watch the history channel or discovery if you're lookin for documentaries, seems everyone has no idea that if it's on TV or the big screen it's NOT real life, even if it's someones life story the scrip has things added in to keep the audience interested, life is never that entertaining!

Wasn't me

reply

NONE OF YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE.
so, stfu

reply

Ive expierenced the movie, when I went thru actual Army Basic Training
Why the *beep* would I want to watch a movie starring a dumb celebrity , who plays herself ( a dumb celebrity) try to go thru movie basic training?

If they want the movie to be interesting
Take Jessica Simpson and enroll her snobby stuck up ass in the Army and see what happens during basic training to her.

And what this movie has been in post production for what nearly 5 months now?
Could that be because its a piece of trash that only 90 people are going to see so they are waiting to release it straight to DVD again?

I may not agree with what you say, but I am prepared to fight and die for your right to say it.

reply

^^ LOL, she wouldn't make it through the first day.
It prolly will go straight to DVD.

I'm not talking about the movie, but the poster that insulted the US military.

The movie will most likely be a nice bit of fluff with a cute actress that acutally, unlike most of Hollywood, doesn't treat soliders as victims/killer rapists.

The bongsmoker types that couldn't pick out Iraq on a map, whose poltical viewpoint is as deep as a bumpersticker and as detailed, love to throw out the clices, "Haliburton, dying for a lie, US Imperialism, and on and on."

That's how at age 30, in their mom's basement, posting insults against US troops make them feel less like a failure.

I think this movies gonna be funny. I'm in the military and just got out of boot camp. Honestly it's challenging and hard, but any idiot can get through it if they try. lol. and besides its not a discrase to the military. Its a comedy-parody. Everyone loves those, and besides Im sure everyone realizes that boot camp is harder than it will look in the movie. and also, you don't have to be extremely smart to get into the military. believe me during training I've ran into my share of dumb, preppy, prissy people. lol

reply

Plus this movie is just a remake of a Godie Hawn movie anyway. Instead this time we have a movie star instead of Jewish American Princess. So what's the point of making a big deal out of a remake anyway.

reply

right, you haven't even seen the movie, dumbasses
and Jessica has performed for troops many a times and visits them and even debuted The Dukes of Hazzard for the troops
Blonde Ambition flew off army store shelves fast
Major Movie Star will premiere for the troops before it hits theatres
she isn't a disgrace
the army loves her

JESSICA SIMPSON IS THE BEST!

reply

She recently visited troops in Kuwait and showed them this film and it got rave reviews. Considering these reviews came from not only soldiers, but soldiers currently out on the field, I believe their opinion is much more important than yours.

reply

if you've been in a desert for half a year and some good looking girl shows you a movie she's starring in and says "what do you think?" you know that you'll say "It was terrific" even if it was horrible, because your brain is going on overdrive trying to retake control of your body from your penis and doesn't have time to think straight.

And when she's standing there smiling at you, you know that she could have easily said "nah I'm going out clubbing this week" and skipped the visit but she didn't, so you just smile back and say "your movie was awesome" all the while thinking that compliment brought you 0.001% closer to banging her behind the ammunition-containers (yeah right).

reply

How true...sad, but true.

I know this is an old post but, just look at the amount of Military personnel asking these celebrities to accompany them to certain Military functions. It's a trend that shouldn't have started. This is why the United Service Organizations (USO) was established 75 years ago.

I still cannot believe that this movie was suppose to garner civilian interest for the U.S. Army. I guess the same could be said about Private Benjamin (1980) and other films pertaining to the Military.

My father originally watched this circa 2007/2008 and almost had a stroke. Even he, having served honorably for 20+ years and being Retired, thought it was bad. He always spoke the truth, and if confronted by somebody like Simpson herself, would have flat out told her what an abomination and embarrassment this film is to the U.S. Military.

Oh well, this should be on the IMDb Bottom 100, but there's not enough ones in this world to get it down there.
