When will execs realize that Simpson can't act?
It's ridiculous that she keeps getting acting gigs. I feel sorry for Steve Guttenberg. I love him.

shareThey don't care if she can act. They care if she can be a movie star. They cast her because she a cute, beautiful, buxom blonde who dances temptingly in videos. They have her say the lines and emote feelings passibly enough so guys, and I suppose certain gals, will be drawn in by her more tangible qualities. She is cute, pleasant movie eye candy, who something of a novelty because she's a music star who has raised our temperatures in music videos. So they say, "how about we put her in a full movie, in roles that are not a far cry from what she already is, with lines and feelings that anybody with a minimal amount of acting classes can express, which won't matter to most because they'll be too blinded by those luscious, sweet, Miss America eyes, hair, gams, kaboose, and headlights." Not that she is unbearable in movies, she has a certain appeal. She's nowhere near the actress that is Susan Surandon or Michelle Pfieffer, but then she doesn't have to be when she keeps getting roles like this one. She's another attempt to jolt the Marylin Monroe syndrome, but of course she won't ever get that far because Monroe was and still is the queen of Hollywood sexpots, to whom we should all pay homage. Although, execs are probably going to have to give her more risque parts, or the luster of her movie star career may wear off.

Jessica Simpson is a joke, a no talent hack who is famous for her giant boobs and big hair. I wouldn't mind as much, but the stupid girl takes herself too seriously, thinking she will someday win an Oscar (!?!). She is just another overexposed twit with a creepy svengali dad and talentless annyoing sister. 'Nough said.
But she doesn't sell tickets. Did you see the numbers for Blonde Ambition? This is direct to DVD.
People say she will die out because of this, but I doubt it. Useless celebrities often stay in the limelight, only as objects of pity and curiosity.

PirateofPie, that is exactly right. Her Dad backs all of her stuff, doesn't he? I rented this for Purposefully Bad Movie Night and she isn't even in the "Making of" deal, which seemed extremely bratty. It seemed like even the Simpsons wanted to get as far away as possible from this one.

Execs? They hired her precisely because they know there are people out there (her fans) who think she has either acting or musical talent and that means money thanks to these oblivious people.

Gawd! What's with all the haters of Jessica Simpson. First, if you don't like her don't watch the movie; second, get off the board about the movie; third, stop being so damned jealous and hateful. Jessica's acting is just fine and on top of that she is knock out sexy and gorgeous. She is great at playing sweet, sympathetic characters with heart and she's more than believable in her roles. And by the way, her dad is listed as a producer on her movies because she's a star, not the other way round. In the biz he's what's known as a "baggage" producer because he doesn't actually do anything on the movie except be her dad.

She had good supporting cast here & in that one where she goes to New York and... i have completely forgotten. But a Wilson Brother was in it, which still makes me go "Huh?". I think she _has_ realized she can't act and is focusing on the shoe line and whatever else she's selling, which seem to be selling like the proverbial hotcakes.
I have said from Day One that all of the Simpsons (well, not the animated ones, we <3 them ;-)) came to LA to make money. She's said it - she wanted to be famous and rich and didn't really care what got her there. Hopefully she'll stick with shoes n' stuff. And OP, Guttenberg was so fun in the 80s, but he's not really booking gigs left and right these days, sadly.
they know. when this was made, she was still kinda in the radar and they just wanna cash in on it to make quick buck off her name.
