no winners in War

the Chased and hunted become as desperate and violent as those who are chasing. The cahsed have as little regard for human life as those who are chasinbg him.The persecuted embrace the legitimacy of revenge against their persecutors.
Everyone loses in War. War is inhuman because it shreds whatever humanity we as supposedly civilized people possess.

reply

Hippy!
Those that survived won. the 1200 Jews that Tuvia etc. helped survive as told in this movie won.
Everyone does lose in war - those that don't lose everything win.

reply

Then WHY do human's go to war?

There ARE winners and there ARE losers in war, my friend. No one has ever said that it isn't a miserable & tragic experience.

Use a little logic will you please?

WHERE did you learn this "no winners in war" philosophy? In a high school or a local college perhaps?

If in a college, I think that I'd demand my tuition funds back...

reply

trf100, have you experienced the war personally?

Thank God, I'm an Atheist! - Luis Bunuel

<<<<WHERE did you learn this "no winners in war" philosophy? In a high school or a local college perhaps?>>>

I didn't know that being a survivor means winning, at what cost, people are scarred for life, tell them that they won and they will spit in your face! Sometimes for some it's better to be dead physically than spiritually.

Everyone loses in war, everyone. It's not a child's game.

reply

What nonsense. This is the type of peacemongering talk that has allowed hateful dictators to take the reins of power in countless states.

War is horrid, but necessary at times, and if you deny this you deserve to be crushed under the bootheel of a fascistic tyrant.

A man who will not stand up and fight for what is his, his land, his family, his friends, his freedom, is nothing, and deserves no respect.

reply

He never said it wasn't necessary, he just said that even the winners are in a way loser, because they lose a part of themselves. That is the truth. Have you seen Platoon? If not, you should.

"A man who will not stand up and fight for what is his, his land, his family, his friends, his freedom, is nothing, and deserves no respect."
I couldn't agree more, but the thing is, most wars aren't led upon the idea of freedom, or rights. Those are just big words, let's face the facts: except the WWII and some independence wars, every war in the world has taken place because one ore both of the belligerents had interest (money, oil, territory, ideology, colonialism...)
Not to sound douchy, but here's a quote that defines war better that I could:

"You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake." ~Jeanette Rankin

Best goddamn post in a long while! I've seen some clever and hilarious posts recently, but damn if this isn't a great one. You, sir, are awesome...

You're right. What a wonderful world we'd live in today had the Allies shared your mentality and simply laid down their arms against the German and Japanese war machines. We'd all be united under one banner and there wouldn't have been all these catastrophes...

Right?

I agree war is terrible. The only way for evil to succeed is for good people to do nothing. And i agree, i think i hearing that Gandhi urged europe to submit to hitler and use non violent protest to stop Hitler and Nazi Germany. I mean thats a stupid idea and would get millions killed, more than what would die in a war.

reply

The problem was in the aftermath of WW1, the cost was so terrible nobody in the West wanted to take action until the problem became too big. Sadly WW2 was several times greater in loss of life & wanton destruction than WW1;

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

reply

Yes, war is pointless.

But, when someone thinks and acts otherwise, it's time to shove the boot so strong that the enemy compresses itself into oil, which we harvest for the boot factory to work.

I think it's crazy to say that war is necessary without saying that you go to war to kill those who think it is necessary.

reply

I think that you just summed up beautifully what I've noticed about victims over the years.

I'll use African-Americans and Jews as examples to illustrate what your post has just driven home to me.

First of all, I want to let it be known that I am Black.

Anyhow... with that said...

The same way a large percentage of today's African-American population is a negative and stereotypical juggernaut filled with the same anger, bitterness, and ignorance as our past oppressors and enemies, I also noticed that today's Jewish conglomerates are Zionist fascists who are as controlling and manipulative as their WWII enemies.

Now, allow me to rephrase and simplify that.

1) A significant percentage of Black Americans today possess the same degree of hatefulness, ignorance, and racial views as our enemies over the centuries who made us this way.

2) Today's Jewish conglomerates that have monopolized most of America are Zionist fascistic control freaks who are as manipulative and controlling as their enemies who once tried to exterminate them.

I find the OP very interesting because of this. I notice that others have commented on the war aspect on this thread already. So I am tackling the point of the OP from a slightly different angle. The fact that war and conflict makes the oppressed eventually as despicable as the oppressor is something I have experienced first-hand, and have observed in others first-hand, whether it is a member of my own race or members of another. In this sense, the OP's point is frighteningly accurate. It is a scary world when one realizes what it means to be a victim; a prey provoked into becoming a predator. A person who has been bullied happens to stumble upon someone else who is even smaller than they are. So goes the cycle, one that I have seen with my own eyes, and one that I have actually been a part of, on each end.

It's not even irony as much as it's simple cause-and-effect.

As I type these words in this post, despite however controversial they may be I am speaking from the heart. And after reading this thread, and typing my own response here, I think I have come to understand Ghandi and Martin Luther King just a little bit more.

Indeed it is inhuman .. while watching this movie during the last fight scene , all I could think about is what good is war .. you shoot me and I shoot you ...I don't understand how most men embrace it .. I sometimes wish that women had been born with the upper body strength and not men .. this world might be a better and safer place to live if we had been .
