A blonde-haired, blue-eyed eastern European jew

Actually, quite a few. Redheads as well.
I myself had blond hair and blue eyes, but the hair got darker as I reached my upper teens and my eyes changed from blue to hazel. (BTW I'm Jewish and as far back as six or so generations (on most sides) I know who my Jewish forebears were.)

I think the film actually made some kind of indirect comment about that when someone asks 'Is he a Jew?' when first arriving at the refuge.
