Yes, that seems to me like a good plan - after all, it's not like the entire f--king Wehrmacht was out there, savagely looking for them. A Rifleman has got to train, of course - it just seems to me that by making all that noise (as well as using up that precious, precious ammunition) they might have been causing far more significant problems than this movie led us to believe

Belorussia ain't like a 'neighborhood'--it's 80 thousand square miles, maybe a third the size of Texas and much of it is covered by swamp & forests. And The German Army don't have the resources to commit large numbers of troops to comb through all that area.
