When the ex-wife called in the middle of the night and was leaving a message on his machine, they panned through the darkened house and showed him sitting at the kitchen table listening to the message in the dark?? It seemed like a horror movie at this point. I don't understand the significance or know exactly why he was sitting in the dark at 3 in the morning, bizzare scene!

Yes. A very eerie scene. It looked as though he was doing something on the table with his hands. I'm not even sure if it was him or Julia Stiles character or somebody else. Wierd.

she was mind fcking him and so to speak stalking him. and he was screening the calls, all the more for the mind fkcing working.
