Can someone explain the significance??

Hi - I didn't really get into this film. Wasn't even paying attention for most of it. Anyway - when the two finally decided to meet (this time for real), I kind of got involved in it again. Leroy shows and she doesn't, which I thought made sense. But what I didn't get was the ending. The very slow pan out from the building in which the girl lived (don't remember the characters name). SHe sees the bird and the camera pans out real slow and then the film ends. So, when that happened I thought - well, maybe the building she lived in had some significance. Why else would there be so a slow dramatic pan out of the building??? So, that's the point of this message - if there was some significance to the building, well, I missed it. Im wondering if anyone here did catch it???

no the significance is that she never even wanted to look outside, so when she cleared the window she is seeing the world for the first time in a very long time.

I agree. She got to the point that she could look out - a little bit only, just as far as the bird, but a baby step, none the less. Wooley went further, took a bigger step, as seen as he walks away with the new acquaintance.

I saw the long pan away from Patti as her isolation in her tower.
