Might be the worst Saw movie.

They didn't even attempt to try take the franchise in a new direction. Chris Rock was miscast and Jackson was barely in the movie. The story is super predictable and the traps sucked. At least even the worst Saw movies still had a decent twist and some cool traps.

2/10

Agreed, Chris Rock over acted his parts and the killer was predictable. Seem like a cheap budget. All Saw films stunk vs the original. Even if Jig Saw was dead, didn't Dr Gordon take over?

reply

Rock looked like he smelled shit half the movie. And walked as if it was in his pants.

reply

In Rocks defense, he's always looked like that.

reply

Ouch

reply

lmao. I see it.

reply

it is

reply

I disagree. I think this is actually the best Saw movie. 8/10 would be my rating.

reply

There's always one.

😳🤯

reply

You did not just say that!!

reply

I did. What are you going to do about it?

reply

Throw Rock at my screen. Chris Rock!

reply

As long as you don't throw him at me, I don't mind if you throw him at your screen.

reply

Might be? Its by FAR the worst. I would say shameful to the series.

Saw 4-8 are also a blur of shittiness

It's disingenuous to label this one as the shittiest. It's the most recent. It's also stands out more easily because of Chris Rock

But can you really say it's substantially shittier than all the other direct-to-video quality sequels? Nah

A few of the sequels are just totally forgettable, but if you were to go back and re-watch the entire franchise, I have a hunch that the worst one would lie somewhere between 4-7

reply

Saw 4-8 ARE definitely DTV-quality, but I find them guilty pleasures nonetheless. With the exception of 7, which has so few redeeming qualities. The final few minutes were an epic way to end the saga, but the movie didn’t really earn the journey to get there.

Spiral wasn’t bad, but just not nearly as different as they were hyping it to be. They made it sound like Chris Rock had some sort of revolutionary idea that would take us in a cool new direction, but it turned out more or less as just another attempt to jumpstart the series with new core characters (Jigsaw did it just a few years before with no follow up). I’ll take more if they got more, but it doesn’t seem like we’ll return to yearly entires.

reply

I disagree.

I though this one was much better than the last few. I give it 6/10. I really liked the new tone the film had, but it really didn't do much to change the formula of the series. I did get some minor entertainment out of it though

The production values were also better than the previous films by far. The last couple looked like sci-fichannel productions. This one looked much higher budget.

With that being said the series stopped being any good by part 3. 4 and 5 were crap, and 6 was just OK. 7-8 were even worse, so it's not like they could do any worse here.

reply

it's bad in ways that are way different from the other sequels. the other ones are just boring, cliche, and completely unremarkable. this one is written in a way that's so bad it's fucking hilarious, like a dhar mann video. some of the best comedy gold of the year.

reply

I like Chris Rock, but some of his acting in this was hilarious.

reply

i was hoping he would be really good in this. he seems like the kind of guy that could deliver a good dramatic performance. too bad he was poorly directed and working with an abysmal script.

reply

Yeah I've seen him be good in dramatic roles, but he needed a good director and script to work with. He didn't have either of those here.
