Reaction Shots of Hosts

Please explain why the reaction shots of the hosts are needed. Is this something that is done a lot in British TV? On American TV, the role of the host is to introduce the acts, and then go away while the audience watches them. We don't expect to see the host comment on the acts or make faces. I'm not criticizing, I'm just curious.

They're not...but then neither are the repeated standing ovations (should only be reserved for especially impressive acts!), or the constant innuendo about his own sexuality by David Walliams... 😒

I could continue (with what isn't needed!). It's such a tired old format...

But as for Ant and Dec...they're loved by the nation (apparently!) and almost considered national treasures. Hence...lots of interaction by and with the presenters to satisfy the public. Personally, I cannot stand them...and could very well do without them! 😣

Agreed. We could do without the host's antics on America's Got Talent.
