The impressionists never learn

Every year an impressionist will come on the auditions, do a few very short, not very good, impressions but have the judges in stitches because they do an impression of Ant or Dec or Ant and Dec. They get put through and in the semi final do a poor act because we've already seen their best stuff - the one liners - and they can't write their own material.

I think it's the same for every act though, they do awfully well in the audition and then they can only do worse the next time they appear.

The reason you don't see many impressionists on TV is that their material is usually terrible. You need to have better jokes.

Even when they're good, the novelty of sounding like someone wears off pretty damn quick.

I was just telling my wife last week that if you want to win BGT, DON'T bring your A-game to the auditions. They want to see improvement in the semi-final and the final so do a good job - enough to get put through - but hold back so you can really show your stuff in the live shows.
