How bad is the nudity?

So how bad is the female nudity in this movie? I planned on watching this with a couple friends, but I would feel bad/awkward showing a really dirty movie to them.
Also, how often is Logan Lerman in this movie? Does he play a big role?

reply

There is quite a lot of nudity and mostly in awkward situations. Not just quick flashes female breasts. Probably not the best movie to show if youre concerned about it.

The director portrays a satirical near-future perspective of our current society's distasteful interests (violent video games and pornography) and portrays it well. :)

Logan is in about 20% of the movie.

reply

Personally I didn't find the nudity enjoyable in the least. I agree that it was awkward, out-of-place, and forced.
Oh well, you can just fast-forward through those particular scenes, because the rest of the movie is very enjoyable, and I do say this with a straight face. I don't know why it was received so negatively...

Personally, I got the feeling that the nudity was meant to purposefully be awkward and unpleasant. I'm generally not a fan of gratuitous nudity in films but I felt it added to this one's surreal atmosphere - people can be damn perverse when there are no perceived consequences to that perverseness.

reply

Well, that's your take on it, but I still think, contrary to the guy posting below me, that female nudity stops becoming enjoyable when it passes that line between artsiness and gratuitousness on one side, and just plain unpleasantness on the other. I'm sure not ALL female nudity (the "good" one, as you say) was enjoyable.

reply

Kind of missing the point; the nudity wasn't meant to be "enjoyable".

reply

I enjoyed the little there was and wish they had shown the very perverse things that real gamers would have their bots do.

I think being not enjoyable was absolutey intended. The eroticism isn't real, it's not even there. The fighting and violence aren't real either, they're metaphorical.

reply

Wait a minute... nudity is "really dirty" but people getting their heads blown off, running around for 20 seconds while on fire or wanking (offscreen) after watching a couple getting stabbed would be ok?

reply

Apparently

You've hit the head on the nail here. Indeed we have some real psychos in this thread. I'm thinking thorizine is called for here.

super true. funny how the one poster talks about fast forwarding thru the nudity to the rest of the movie which is lots of violence. very weird.

Haha and so true!

typical americans. kids getting a rifle for their 10th birthday, but showing a breast on TV is an absolute outrage.

I thought your comment was quite funny but you do have to look at the original post. The person asking the question was asking not because of whether he should let a kid see it or something but "I planned on watching this with a couple friends, but I would feel bad/awkward showing a really dirty movie to them. " which is personally a completly valid question.

reply

I read it. There's no reason to censor or keep nudity away from your friends like they're you're little sibling. They can handle their damn selves. I know I've watched sex comedies and even bits of porno (not to get off but if there was something interesting in them) with my friends as a teen, or they would come over and read that month's Maxim or Playboy.

But really, it's from the makers of Crank. You should know what to expect.

reply

Agreed fully. If the OP is so concerned, the best way to desensitize your friends is to show them a Real Sex special on fetishes... That's what we did! :D Sure, we can't talk about sasquatch or sheep the same way again, but still...

Thank God I'm european, the repressed nature of America is shocking!

OP, if your a girl then you've got breasts and you've already seen a pair as have all your other female friends.

If your a guy then shame on you asking a question like this, unless your gay then your probably just going to be repulsed anyway but hey Gerrard Butlers hot right???

Seriously it just a flash of tits in what is supposed to be a directors vision hyper real version of the internet, which less face facts is full of filth.

If you consider yourself old enough to see men and women blown to bits, stabbed, disembowled then you can probably handle some flesh too.

Why quote other people when I like the sound of my own voice?

reply

Um, you hit reply to me not the OP. So He/she might not see your reply.

I agree with what you said though. (Canadian here, if your wondering)

grrr arg Why do people reply to me all the time, when they clearly meant to reply to someone else?

reply

Didn't the original poster mean "how GOOD was the nudity?"

How can nudity be bad?

If you're concerned about your 12 year old seeing it, check the rating (which I imagine is "R", right), and if he's over 16... who cares?

And I agree with another poster that extreme and repeated violence (or demeaning sex, for that matter) is worse than simply "nudity", however graphic.

reply

I'm always hitting the wrong reply, thanks though.

I'm from Scotland which makes us almost related depending on what coast your nearest to :)

reply

Hey, we might be related, my dad was born in Bear's den. I haven't been out that way in almost 30 years though, but I do have family over there. I actually have dual citizenship.

But yeah, North America is generally pretty repressed, maybe I'll move out to Glasgow for retirement.

I'm an American atheist and the excessive nudity was annoying in my opinion. I get that it had a satirical point but that doesn't mean I thought it was enjoyable. Try not to stereotype an entire country based on your narrow-minded perceptions. This is not a Christian nation.

reply

Your absolutely right about the diversity in America carmmm it's just that from the outside looking in it definitely appears that way. Your country has given me a lot of pleasure in one way or another but recently I can't say that I've felt as much love to it as I used to, which is a shame.

Not that the UK's much cop either, think I'll stay where I am in the Highlands!

For what it's worth, I found the nudity a bit distracting to the overall film too. I just couldn't help rising to the "Dirty Movie" bait.

You're not a Christian nation..? The US has the largest national Christian population in the world, 78% of its people is Christian. I would say that pretty much classifies you as a Christian nation, whether you like it or not.

No what you are is, is a gynophobic fruitcake.

reply

Odd, I found that the nudity was not excessive, in fact I thought there was a lot LESS nudity than I would have expected in the film, made it a lot less realistic.

I would have expected to see people (men & women) walking around naked in such situations, much more use of body paint, more freakish outfits, but then again this film IS set in the USA, where nudity is bad...

reply

It is flashes of female breasts when you least expect it. I mean I can see your point about it but if they are able to handle it then it is a good film to watch for the action in the movie.

Yep, I'd be far more concerned with the casual violence committed to innocents. Butler definitely murdered Peter Petrelli in cold blood.

reply

That is just the part of the movie that he had to kill Peter Petrelli off.

That it was part of the movie is of no doubt, what I'm saying is that his character is completely innocent.
