What is the point of this movie?

Seriously, I'm asking.

Cause more my money this was the single most pointless movie ever.

I want to here what you think the point was to make this? Anybody?

reply

I think it was supposed to be about love and forgiveness and all that.

What the point actually turned out to be was to make me want to jam a fork in my eye.

I agree with you. Boring and pointless. However it did have "real" characters, and by "real", I mean boring, pointless or total d-bags.

What's the "point" of any movie? It depends on the movie I guess. Most of them just portray characters in unusual situations, or unusual characters in common situations. There's no point. If you're looking for a message, maybe you should try Disney or Lifetime movies?

Exactly! What's so wrong with a simple story?

Well when people die usually we view them through rose colored glasses. So this movie dealt with, among other things, finding out something terrible about a loved one right at the moment you find out they are going to die. The conflicting emotions people would go through, and how they would find resolution. Also the death of the mother/wife was paralleled with the potential loss of the family land. Nature being spoiled, things changing, and a peak into the lives of one generation of descendants. Just a very real life movie man. A look at real people doing real things and dealing with real problems. These kinds of books/movies help people deal with the problems they encounter in their own lives. Life lessons delivered in an entertaining fashion. We watch other people go through this stuff so that when we inevitably find ourselves in similar situations, we are better equipped to deal with them.

What an excellent reply and answer Ringo111. I think you are right on about what the point of this movie is. What we will then disagree on is the quality of filmmaking. I say that this movie still sucks to high heaven on near every level. Maybe cinimatogrophy being the exception. Also I didn't see the boom mike in any shot so good booming.

There could be some argument on the point of "real world problems". They are dealing with problems but their doing it in unreal ways to this viewer and many others. I found little of this entertaining in the slightest and non of it funny. Still, again thanks for the well constructed, respectful reply.

Hey thank you Tanchalum. I've watched so many bad movies in resent times that I could just be very easily impressed at this point, I liked it though. Could also be how similar it was to my own life, so I related to it more. Any resent movies that you enjoyed? I'm tired of watching the same 90's movies over and over so am looking for some new stuff to check out.

I'm not too into too much new these days. A lot of what hollywood puts out these days just doesn't work for me. I want it to. I like big budget movies but I want them to be good movies. I watch such random things and mostly older stuff because of the quality as mentioned but also access. They charge you for Iron Man 3 but you tube has the Battle of Britain and Russ Meyer's Supervixons. <<just watched. The best thing I've watched this last month is the BBC drama series Pride and Prejudice. It's a six part masterpiece.

I would love to hear a list of good movies you enjoy that I can track down and view myself.

Well if we are including TV, I watch a lot of the UK car show Top Gear, and the makeup special effects show Face Off. I don't know if I've ever seen a made for TV movie I liked, the production quality just instantly puts me off. Have not seen any new movies I liked in awhile, but I found a new old one that was pretty funny, Samurai Cop. It's an accidental comedy because of how bad it is. Wednesday I watched A Clockwork Orange for the first time in 15 years. Had such an effect on me I ended up watching it again last night. My favorite movie is probably Breaking Away. I'll check out the stuff you recommended. And, I'll get in touch with you if I see anything new I end up liking (so this might be goodbye forever).

How people react to certain situations. If the actors sell their feelings and its genuine it makes it a good movie.
I thought the situations the characters were in was very interesting.
