DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

SPOILERS
I paid &6.99 for this crap .
The Video Nasty stuff in the beginning was good but that was about fifteen minutes or so .
this “ film” was silly and mired in the sub-plot of the missing sister.
Some nice gore but without too much substance.

What’s with the last five minutes- Heaven or Hell?

reply

So the movie wasn't good because it wasn't what you expected? The era was just the setting. It was never sold as a throwback to the video nasties era.

reply

The missing sister was the plot.

"SPOILERS"

There were no spoilers in your "synopsis".

I wondered if the end was her mental breakdown and distortion of reality, seen from her view. I think the brief flashes to the look of horror on her parent's faces and Alice screaming "Help" was what was actually happening and she had kidnapped Alice to return her to her parents and redeem herself.

reply

Yes, that is correct.
She killed her sister when they were kids, and self-censored the memory to cope with the trauma and guilt. This is explained when she discusses the Amnesiac killer with her colleague. She is then trying to erase her guilt by rescuing her sister.

reply

...or does she consider amnesia as a reason for what happened with her sister, rather than it being implied as fact? So much of the second half seems left to the imagination.

reply

I agree with your take. I didn't even think of Enid having killed her sister until I came to these boards. I thought the guilt of not knowing what happened and having to put her parents through this (her mother is portrayed as 'blaming' Enid) broke her.

reply

Because she doesn't know/remember what happened, she considers murder as a possibility. Watching the films then adds to her belief/delusion. My last reply didn't make much sense. Already on the edge of sanity, she then goes over.

A film about video nasties, without really being one. A 'psychological nasty' perhaps?
What were you expecting, and what did you want to see happen?
That's an honest question btw.
