2 questions

1. Is this based on real events as it's stated on beginning?

2. When it's supposed this movie to be dated, what time - 90's? It's not for sure after 2000, because I haven't seen there cellphones and those two guys are using phone booth (what's really strange thing for many years). I'm guessing 90's, because when they are talking at 01:05:55 they are saying something about "last concert in 1988". So my (third) question is, were those relationships between Izraelis and Egyptians in 90's so cold/not normal as is trying to state movie?

reply

No, the film is not based on real events and the text in the beginning of the film is like an intro to a tale. The time could be the 90ies, yes.
As you can read in many threads here, the relationship between Israelis and Egyptians is one-sided - with thousands and thousands of Israelis travelling to Egypt, and no Egyptians visiting Israel. We call it a "cold peace".

Chet Baker (the musician they were discussing) died in Amsteredam in 1988. They were speaking of him when discussing the "last concert in 1988" and has nothing to do with when this movie was supposed to be set.

The people you idolize wouldn't like you.
