This writer/director clearly knows nothing of Egyptians

There is no way in the world that Egyptians would so casually drink and have sex with no objections from anyone in the band. Especially when travelling as in the movie in an official or semi-official capacity, in which case members would be expected to uphold Egypt's name and its morals. That guy screwing the Israeli girl would be seen as a scandal, yet the police lieutenant-colonel doesn't say a word.

I also find it hard to believe that the band would so easily socialize with Israelis without one mention of politics or conflicts. Despite official peace, Jews are squarely "the enemy" in Egyptian public opinion, media, culture. 19 Egyptians in 20 would have nasty words to say if you asked them about Jews.

No wonder the actors who played Egyptians weren't Egyptians. It showed in their accents too.
