both movies was sad and gray social dramas with on-hand camera and without any music.
in my oponion these two movies are best foreign films during past ten years.

The quality of acting was better in A Separation. Also AS has the upper hand in overall execution. In terms of writing, both were more-or-less on par, but I got more emotionally invested in this one simply due to the subject matter.
shareA Separation is the best movie of this kind and one of the best movies I've seen. I hate it that these movies are not recognized yet as cinema movement like italian neo-realism, french new wave were for example.
Also, with Beyond The Hills I think Mungiu topped 432, it's a shame it doesn't get more recognition.

"A Separation" was definitely the more powerful of the two, for me.
If you're not taking any steps forward, you're not moving at all.
Best foreign films? What do you mean by foreign? For me foreign, as a Spanish-born person, is everything not produced in Spain, so a Hollywood film is a foreign film (particularly these, I rarely spend my pennies in watching those).
