I hope he cheats on her with (an)other woman

From the beginning, she knew he was married and pursued him. How'd she expect his ex to act? She was awful to the kid and completely disregarded the boy's mother's ways of doing things. An awful, unsympathetic character. I kept hoping for there to be at least one redeemable characteristic.

Lol how about he get cheated on instead? He's the one that walked her to her hotel then kissed her. He had the wife, the promise, the kid but he broke all of that. And doesnt get nearly as much backlash as he deserves. Sure she should have said no, shouldn't have hovered but its not like she was saying sexual things to him beforehand to lead him on. I'd say he's more in the wrong....I felt bad for her character cause you get into thisgreat relationship without realizing all the baggage, the stepson dislikes you at first, the exwife is taking stabs at your dead child you think you killed, people are always eying you in a bad way (home wrecker look) and you don't know how to be a momto your stepchild. She's still learning and grieving. Sure she has her flaws of pushing ppl away but she seems to overcome them. She does try to be nice to the kid sometimes... ice skating, toys, gifts, etc

Well done. Finally someone actually takes the time to address the choices and actions taken rather than complaining about the characters snarling at each other.

I too found it ironic in Emelia's confrontation scene with Carolyn that Carolyn ended up showing grace and generosity. Completely unwarranted, but generous despite that.

Emelia's character arc is flat. That' is why the film suffered as much as it did.

Emelia is the same selfish girl at the end she was at the beginning.

Yes u are all right and Jack- the one who was actually married with a kid!! - was blameless. It was all Emilia's fault.

I felt sory for her character to loose a child is the worst thing I can imagine and no one deserves that. Jack seems to have come out better although in the long run Emilia and Carloyn are better off as they are shot of him

Precisely. Stop blaming the third person. She didn't rape him for all we know. It was his choice to cheat. He could have worked on the marriage or left it first, then get with someone else. Instead he chose to cheat. It is all on HIM

And she could have left the marriage alone.

It's o BOTH of them.

reply

Yes she could but she decided to go after what she wanted. And would have failed big time had the married one not decided to cheat. So the marriage was safe no matter what she does as long as the husband was faithful. Once he cheated,HE destroyed his marriage. So no. He's the only one responsible for the destruction of this marriage.

Refuted many posts ago.

If SHE decided not to cheat, HE would remain faithful as well.

As the saying goes.. it takes two to tango.

reply

No it's on him. Like I said, she could have done anything, his marriage would still be safe had he chosen not to cheat. He destroyed on his own his marriage.

You just repeat yourself.

HE could have done anything, his marriage would still be had SHE chosen not to cheat.

They both destroyed the marriage together.

Been around this corner many times now.

You're the one repeating yourself. The impact on the marriage comes from the husband's choices and decisions. Notthe thitrd person. Again the third person could do anything, it wouldn't have any impact without the married person's decisiin. While the married one can destroy the marriage without the "third" person's participation. The third person can't destroy the marriage unless the married one allows it, or she forces him in any way.

You have already conceded the following:

1. What she's doing is morally wrong
2. Emilia has no morals, is wrong to go after a married man
3. Emilia chose not to control her impulses
4. She can’t cause any damage no matter what she does unless the married one allows it [and he did clearly allow it].
5. There wouldn’t be any actions to have have consequences had she walked away.

Those are quotes from YOUR posts.

It's pretty obvious from your own posts that Emelia does damage, and has an impact on a marriage she has no business being involved in. You concede all of this already.

So what exactly is it you are arguing here? lol

That's rather irrelevant since Jack does invite Emelia into the marriage, and Emelia accepts. We can talk about what didn't happen in the film, but what the point? lol

And he did allow it, you acknowledged this many many times.

Great to read you are conceding Emelia's accountable for her behavior here. I agree with you, she trespasses into a marriage and does considerable damage.

Case closed.
