As the paper says when announcing his death by falling off a yacht, why Is he stealing and selling *beep* to feed his habit?

Because he is a famous musician with no money?

Could be a few things.

How many famous people end up bankrupt because they overspend? It's not uncommon for people who have £10m in the bank to end up with nothing.

Or maybe, as the movie suggests, he wants to be "dead". It's a little harder to pull that off it you're making cash withdrawals or stuff is being bought on your card.
