NOT about satanism

I didn't post this as a review, as the existing reviews cover H.L.B. fine. This is simply a warning: If your local station promotes this as a movie about satanism, they are lying. There is a difference between a film actually about satanism and one about a mentally ill woman, one of the things she is imagining being that her children are demons.

I agree with others that this drama can be considered a semi-horror t.v. movie but it's about the horrors of lunacy, not of the devil. Promoting this as a satanic film is a good example of the horrors of ad-writers either too stupid to know that a woman having scary dreams isn't the same thing as a woman attacked by the devil or too dishonest to treat those as two different subjects. I'll bet that ad-writer was too stupid to be able to get a job as a film script-writer so got work writing ad text instead. That's almost as sad as someone too stupid to be able to get a job as a film script-writer so posting notes to a movie message board for free instead. Oops.

The mother wasn't mentally ill. Did you watch the movie? She drowned at the end but was not even near water. Water was pouring out of her mouth as she died. Was the mom imagining that? The baby almost killed her several times. There was the stroller in the street incident, the fall from the marble on the steps etc. She wasn't imagining those things either.

Yes, she was. Did you watch the movie? She almost died in the street because she was too stupid to keep track of her baby and then ran out into the street without even looking. She was nuts for falling down her stairs, not the victim of satanism. Her first child, who died in the stream, had been a demon after all so came back to haunt her, in her dreams, and that's an example of satanism rather than lunacy? Her baby cried all the time, and that's an example of satanism? A dog growled at her baby, as dogs can detect demons, while people cannot? She killed her shrink, slashed her sister, and was going to stab her baby to death (though did not, for some reason), those showing satanism and not mental illness? Yikes. I get the impression that, if another non-satan-featuring film was (for some reason) promoted as satanic, and a car wreck was shown, you'd say that wreck must have been caused by the devil. I had a dream where I met Kirsten Dunst, settled down, and got married. If they make a movie about me, will it be a film about Kirsten Dunst raising a family or a flick about a goofball?

**SPOILER ALERT** SPOILERS HERE

You clearly missed the crazy ending of the movie where the video of the baby's activity in her bedroom was shown in some kind of spoof of the movie Paranormal Activity (or something?). At the end, they showed that the baby had been the reason the mother had fallen down the stairs. It scared her by getting up and walking toward her (and this baby shouldn't have been able to walk yet.) Then after they showed that, they showed this cute sweet looking baby supernaturally moving fast and then looking directly in the camera/monitor. She wasn't even looking creepy. LOL

But it was clear that the baby was possessed.

As with many cable t.v. movies, you IMDbers are assigning too much talent to these hack writers & directors. Because you are smart enough to see that things don't make sense the way they seem at face value, you figure the Hollywood functionaries have slipped some clever twists into their flick. I disagree.

Is it hard to believe that dumb people get work in Hollywood churning out cheap cable movies in as little time as possible? 'Not for me. The one director friend I've had (due to a hobby we share--nothing to do with cinema) is a nice guy but his films have been dopey and shoddily made. I know a bit about his intelligence level and, while he's enthusiastic & willing to do nonprofit work for free, he's not very bright.

What did a psychic (or whatever they called her) have to do with this? What did her later having moved away have to do this? They were simply tossing everything "weird" they could think of at the wall, not even caring what stuck. The mother was miserable all the time, too sore to (you know) with her husband, and fantasized that her husband & sister were having an affair. How did those show that her "baby" was possessed by satan?

The one thing I'll cede is that, as I saw this in a 2-hour free-t.v. slot with lots of commercials, if it originally really was longer, then I must not have seen it all.

I did appreciate your joke, in the other thread, "it felt a smidge irresponsible too. I can't put my finger on why," referring to the breast-feeding scene.
