This is everything I love about horror movies.

Suspense, comedy, tension, lots of scares, cool effects. I don't know why this doesn't have a higher rating. It's like people won't watch a horror movie these days unless a stripper's boobs are getting cut off or some little kid is levitating. Splinter definitely has some gore and violence, but it's there for the entertainment value and genuine scares -- not just disgust. I loved this movie. As a horror fan, I needed this movie. It's everything the genre is currently lacking, in my opinion.

Hope they find a good director too make Splinter 2.

Right there with you. It's a great little movie, and I can't understand the low rating either. I made my sister watch it with me, and she's not a fan at all of horror movies. Yet after seeing it the first time, she actually asked me if we could watch it again a couple of months later (we were sharing an apartment at the time).

well, the way it was filmed made me sick. the movie cuts camera every 2 seconds or something. (Besides that awful shaking)
so I dont know what to tell you

6 is just fair for this movie. I wouldn't rate it any higher. It was just good but that's about it. I don't find it weird that it doesn't have higher than a 6, and it's not considered a 'low rating' for this genre. 6 is very good for a horror movie on IMDB. A movie like this would never get close to a 7, sorry.

I thought they did really well on an obviously limited budget. The acting was reasonable, and the story ticked along at a good pace, it held my interest.

Agreed! I absolutely loved it from beginning to end.

Very few horror movies work on so many levels; from acting, writing, special effects, pacing, etc. it was a very well executed film overall
