I have had some concrete experiences that cannot be explained, but that includes calling them "ghosts" as well. I have been made fully aware that there are some energies out there that can manipulate the physical world in ways that we do not understand, but I have no explanations for it and refuse to say that I do without knowing for sure.

Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair.

Yes, they are real. I've been having experiences with the paranormal since I was 5 years old. It's not like what you see in the movies though where something is always happening all the time. For example, with the current haunting that I've been experiencing since August 2010, there have only been 32 incidents that have happened that cannot be explained. That's an incident about every other month. And the incidents aren't the extremes of what you see in movies. They're actually quite subtle (shadows, getting touched, cupboard door banging open and closed, etc.).

I’ve had things happen similar to what you’re saying. Never believed in it until it happened to me.

I don't know for sure, but I believe they are.

Don't know but when I was a teen we lived in an old farm house that had some strange things happen in it. Tapping, scratching & knocking noises, a voice calling out my name in particular, plumping & electricity going haywire (tuning on and off by themselves, toilets flushing by themselves, water turning on with no one around, sometimes rapid in secession), doors & cabinets opening by themselves, chairs moving and one of my uncles said he felt fingers trial down his back when he was alone in the house by himself. We also had recurring red orbs, almost every single night but at different times. Possible the house was on some sort of electrical or energy hot spot? We did have electricians and plumbers check it out and said it was an old house possible it was just creaking and cracking but they really never found anything. The plumper accused of us of lying about the toilet flushing by itself....but anytime I see an actual poltergeist movie it reminds me of some of things that happened in our house. My hillybilly mom believed if you thought it was a ghost, ignore it. So we did. It eventually just stopped and we lived in it for a few years with no problem.

Came here to check if I had watched this remake and perhaps my memory had dismissed the fact. The threads tell me I did see it. I am 68 and still ageing but saw the original when it came out in 1982 around the time of E.T.
All horror type movies are meant to give us the feeling of safety within the thrills and as long as you suspend your [normal belief that is fine. For those who do have underlying fear or similar regarding the paranormal then of course things can be disturbing. When I was very young I was taken to see Snow White in the 1950s. I checked under my bed and my room and suchlike for some time due to a fear of coming across the evil witch.

The reality of ghosts. Well one thing I can add to this sparse thread is. You cannot fully disprove any other persons interpretation of a vision which they will hold dear for ages. Mostly they will be about some deceased relative. Or at some site where so many have reported such events in the past. Head tucked underneath her arm.

Being non religious and also not really into the UFO nonsense which sometimes appears almost hysteria it is hard to come to terms with what is known and what is not known. Scientists and those who deal n facts are always prepared to recognise that one thing we do know is that a FACT IS ONLY A FACT UNTIL SOMEONE PROVES OTHERWISE. There is one theory therefore not yet a fact that there are many universes and that the FABRIC of time ans space dividing them all may be rather thin. Well if that is nearly a truth apparitions we are calling ghosts may well be cross over stuff. A bit like in the old days of TV signals crossed over the few channels we used. How about people hearing a radio in their head due to some sort of whatever and the fillings in their teeth. I fancy I heard some sort of radio type signal once while working underneath a washing machine. Did not last long but it was heard and no explanation nearby could be found.

For many years the devoted adherents to the superstitions rammed into the minds pf Catholics report visions mostly of Mary. In Ireland of course she appeared mostly in the garb of the idols which were present in the churches of course and even still today in statuettes faithfully displayed in homes. Now the non Catholics did not have such an upbringing but they are still victims of an overbearing for self centred purposes so called faith. MANY made up in the wake of manipulations that have come down from the new Christian faith period of PAUL [Saul]. The laying on of hands even by a young almost child is acceptable as real which allows the sceptic to have the reasons to scoff.

The modern visions and dreams are of those who believe they have been touched by some other worlds equivalent of Captain Kirk on universe searching missions. Maybe this has overtaken the numbers of Virgin Mary visions but the various faiths require these MIRACLES to hold the faithful together. The faiths can even go against their own HOLY INSPIRED written word and adapt the meanings to suit a purpose. whether we like it or not the Koran is manipulated to suit the murderous. The New testament whether we like it or not tells us to hate the sin but love the sinner. I suppose the Jew loved his oppressor [since his time began and continues today]. The pope of the time and just look at a couple since whose past is dubious in WW2 relationships with Nazi party and holocaust. Yes the bible does tell us to love the sinner but also tells them to repent and SIN NO MORE. As the sin is gong to be of course revisited the individual is a recidivist but how that is meant to be treated is not clear.

Personal visions are hard to explain away. My wife keeps telling me she has vivid [dreams] and of course the lights. Did she know about the lights before she saw poltergeist. What I do now and wish for is to have a TIDY THE HOUSE UP poltergeist invoked by her cos it certainly is not one of her qualities. Although the statement came via her previous husband 'you could hide money under her ashtray' it still applies. She stops smoking every day but just has to finish off the 200 carton. It gets replaced every four to five days though. She will of course in hell be connected to one of those testing machine they had guinea pig people attached to. Mind you that might be heaven for her.
There are 'no' GHOSTS for real. They could of course be E.Ts. But if interested in movie world then try and see the now old film THE GOURMET from 1984.

Very insightful and logical approach to the question. I enjoyed reading your post. Since no one else bothered to respond, understand, challenge or likely read your analysis. I can see some thought and effort were put into this response and my beliefs are similar to yours so I thought I'd say your post was engaging and interesting to read! lol
