Transcends low budget problems--a very intriguing film
At first I was a bit turned off by the home video look, but I'm glad I stuck with the film. Jonathon Sharkey and his life become more fascinating as it progresses, especially once they concentrated on pursuing a lot of interviews with family, friends and acquaintances, which seemed catalyzed by Sharkey being imprisoned. All of a sudden the subject of the documentary was unavailable, so they had to find other people to talk to.
Sharkey definitely seems a bit off his rocker, and I sure wouldn't entrust him with many things, but I also found him appealing--he seemed like a guy I'd like to hang out with . . . or if he played an instrument, I could easily see enjoying being in a band with him. He certainly knows how to be theatrical.
