Overhead shot before entering the weird tree house structure

There is a contunuous shot that looks like an ariel shot at first, but than lowers and swoops over the structure, turns and descends through the structure, than without a cut follows the man and woman on foot with a steadi cam that is used throughout the movie. It is an amazing shot and I have no idea how they did it. Anyone have any ideas?????? It is so seamless I can't believe there is an edit.

They used a rope (or cable) and pulley system to float the DP through the air and when they landed on the other side he stepped off and walked with the steady cam. They used the same system for the overhead shot of Emmanuelle running through the woods. It's really quite impressive.

Check out the making of featurette on the DVD and see everything they went through during production of this. Really torturous.

thank you so much. thats one brave DP!

Amazing. One of the most impressive long takes I've ever seen.

What were the cables attached to? Giant towers? A balloon?

This film seems to have people who passionately hate it or love it. But I think we can all agree that this one shot was amazing. Congrats to the DP.

Vinyan, like the director's first film, is absolutely gorgeous.

I hated this movie soooo much and I wanted to kill that stupid wife. However...I agree with Baldwin about that one scene. It was indeed a great shot in an otherwise unwatchable film.

Hated the movie, but that shot was really amazing. Probably one of the best things about this stinker of a film, lol.

Big Gay Al, it has recently come to our attention that you are gay.

Yeah, I saw that shot and took a moment to say "Wow." But the rest of the film is just... terrible. Hated the character of the wife because of her child-like irrationality, she was just frustrating to be around. Along with that, terrible script and the editor didn't do his job very well.

Have to agree, the film was dire, immature, expositional, unrealistic, boderline racist (why have zombies when you've got Thai people) But that was one hell of a shot. The camera work was superb throughout, sound design too was inventive if a little overdone.

Wow, I'm glad people here caught that shot... despite the weird storyline (I should have known having seen Calvaire), this shot was sick.

Don't forget to love your local Orphan.
