I liked it a lot!!! (spoilers)

It was awesome. A really dysfunctional family. I loved Lauren Graham as the wife, Hilary Swank as the perfect housewife and Ben Foster as the crazy brother :)).
Altough it didn't have that much of a story, it was good!!
I loved the scene where Ida says that she wants to live in the basement when the day before, her brother said he wanted to live in the attic. I was stunned by the reaction Murray had. :))
Anyway, if you know how to appreciate a movie, I strongly advise you to watch it! I didn't mean to offend anyone by that. I'm just saying this movie is for the ones who saw a lot of movies, not just the american comedy crap.

yeah, it was a great movie. very funny in some parts. also it was hilarious when betty and murray were preparing the food for jay and he told them he's a vegan and then when they asked about cheese he said: "milk is for calves... for suckling" - and the expressions on their faces. lol.

i loved the ending too - how finally murray had enough of paul and pinched his nipple, lol; and when he shat on paul's garden - it was gross but i loved it, it was so satisfying; and then when betty came to see it and she told laura to *beep* off - it was really really nice. and of course the ending was 'perfect'.

i think i liked both jay and ida the most out of the characters. it was so sweet how jay was explaining to them how he got to be charged for child molestation - and how innocent and sweet his touching the girl was. do you think it was a statement on american (and western) way of dealing with both touching/ affection as well as child molestation charges?

by the way roxist - you may like a series called: "arrested development" - it's got the same theme as this movie and is definitely not your typical american comedy. it's very funny and very smart.

Yes 'Arrested Development' is a classic but you can also watch 'Eulogy' and 'The Savages'. 'The Family Stone' was crap though.

'do you think it was a statement on american (and western) way of dealing with both touching/ affection as well as child molestation charges?'

I think it's a statement not only on child molestation but on society in general. Innocence is fading as violence increases. I mean, when you see Jay just touching the people, they all act like he did something nasty and react rudely. So any form of contact with a stranger is perceived negatively simply because people don't have much faith in society and feel that they always have to fend for themselves. That old haggardy bitch clearly overreacted and should have been arrested.

I wonder why the police wanted Jay's DNA. Did something happen to that girl? Or if it happened to someone else, why is Jay a suspect?

'it was gross but i loved it, it was so satisfying'
That's a very funny phrase

I remember twice in the movie that Murray's wife was watching the news on TV and they said they were looking for a pedophile. When Jay got beaten up by the mom of that kid, she probably reported him as well, so it was only natural for the cops to get his DNA sample to try and make a possible match to the children who had been molested.

Thanks for the recommandation magezia, I'll definitely look into it!!
BTW, I'm not american, I just said that "something else besides the classic american crap comedies" because I'm sick & tired of those comedies like Superbad,Knocked up, or Forgetting Sarah Marshall that should be comedies and still they're boring (maybe I should speak for myself here, but really, I can't remember to be laughing at those). I know they all are directed by Judd Apatow and I think he's destroying the image of what a comedy should be. Again, maybe I'm too mean, or maybe I have a big sense of criticism but I saw a lot of movies and now I act like crazy when I see a boring one. If you have any recommandations like Atonement or La vie en rose, Million Dollar Baby, Love me if you dare...please, share! Thanks

I watched it and it's very good. I liked it.
Matthew Perry is great, and so Lauren Graham.

i just watched it and i thought it was it was great. so much of the movie spoke to me. the sibling love, the aftermath of the loss of a parent, the struggle. at the end, i was afraid that morrie was going to get violent with paul, but it was so fitting that he went for the nipple twister. i really loved the scene where the siblings shared a joint together. i don't know how to explain it but the moment was just great.

and completely random, but i have that porn scene that jay was watching. i thought that was hilarious.

great movie

What movie were you watching? You're really easily amused.

I liked it too...very much, but I have to correct you: His name is Maury, not Murry.

Meow.
I just love kitties!

cmon, this movie was total *beep* crap,

comedy, drama....... ????
just stuff for retarded folks

I agree. I didn't find those scenes funny at all. I did laugh at the end at Hilary Swank's character's reaction to Morrie's (sp?) feces on her lawn but otherwise there was not much humour on this film.

I watched it with an open mind, and was rewarded with one of the best movies I've seen in a while. The tensions initially presented were all well developed, with a range of emotions peppered throughout, building towards a graphic/symbolic crescendo. Well done.

My daughter and I watched this movie together yesterday and both loved it. Refreshing. We clapped and cheered for Maury at the end too!!!
