A Failure Really? I thought it was brilliant a totally deep film, with awesome character building and a great twist to it to be honest.

Robert Carlyle was awesome as usual. He's always a pleasure to watch. In my eyes, he's kind of like a British Sean Penn.

Unfortunately, the lead child character, Jamie was annoying and almost unbearable. I almost quit the movie several times because of him. Nothing personal to Arron Fuller, I find at least 95% of children in films insufferable. I suppose it's difficult to come across like a real little kid when you have to say someone else's words.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

Based on a true story... where did you want it to go?? With fiction you can make it whatever you want it to be. You can't escape so easily with non-fiction, especially when it's a son remembering his life with his father. Maybe you should try and watch it again, after listening to the director speaking at film festivals etc. Perhaps you just didn't connect with the characters and for that reason alone, the movie didn't work for you.

I personally thought both leads gave very raw and powerful performances. It's one thing for an actor of Carlyle's caliber to have the pressure to portray a real person, let alone the director's own father. However, 14 year-old Fuller's feature debut was magnificent. Although I'm sure young Arron felt the weight of his role also, kids have the luxury of not knowing boundaries, concerns and limitations. I think this helped him to extend his interpretation of Kerrigan as a child and the result was a raw and inspiring performance.

Congrats to Kerrigan for turning this rather manic time in his life, into a moving and memorable film that, as an audience member, am sure will have made his father very proud.
