Isn't "Jake" supposed to be deaf? How is it that he can 'hear' everyone and has no problems talking to people and conversing with them?
sharemy brother is deaf/hard of hearing, but like jake, if he is wearing a hearing aid he can hear fairly well, not perfectly, but quite well, and he talks almost perfectly, it is possible :)

My dad is about 80% deaf (with a functioning hearing aid) and I have a couple of guys friends my age,23, who've had hearing aids since they were little and none of them speak perfectly. Thats what I couldn't buy in this movie. I'm not saying he had to sound like marlee matlin, or my dad (most people just assume he's not a native english speaker."What country is your dad from?" I answer, "Chicago")
But the guy in this movie had nothing, nada. Not even the sublte flat tone of voice that, for me, is a giveaway. It's like he didn't even attempt to learn about the deaf.
@Harlow... IIRC, he says he was normal till 16. Then got infection. So he knew how to speak.
