Don't drink while watching this movie

Made the mistake of watching this movie with a whisky-bottle in my hand. I'm usually pretty indifferent to movies like this, but the scene right after the main guy dies, and we see the poor dog walking around looking for him made me lose it completely.

I was crying so hard it nearly ruined the scotch. The ending, by comparison, was almost uplifting because now the struggle is finally over and we see them together again. But seeing the abandonment, confusion and loneliness of Hachi as he walked around looking for his dead friend nearly had me crying hard my throat hurt.

Sad but beautifully done.

Damn Whisky.

Depending what kind of drinker you are, watching this movie drunk is a bad idea, you might commit suicide by the end :P

I actually found the ending sort of happy, as it shows the ending of a long suffering, and the reuniting of old friends. But the part where Hachi just wanders around looking for his dead friend kinda broke me a little.

...Reading the Wikipedia page makes me sad, thinking about the movie itself - makes me sad. I don't think I've ever encountered a film like this before, but then again, my family had two dogs - one whom I witnessed being put down. So...yeah. Memories. I think I watched it drunk after we put our last one down, tears were shed.
