Lol really people?

Well I'll start by saying I ran across bone tomahawk on demand the other day and loved it. I looked up the writer/director of BT and it lead me here. Now I saw posts on this board about how this movie is terrifying, gory and everything else I look for in a flick. But I have to say this disappointed big time. Trying to hard to be a psychological and then unsuccessfully trying to switch gears into a Eli Rothesque gorefest (Wich I'll be honest the gore/makeup isn't that impressive people). Also have heard this movie had a great "atmosphere". All I saw was horrendous lighting where I couldn't tell what the hell was going on half the time. I usually take films at face value. But this was a real *beep* show, maybe I'm being to hard on it because I had higher expectations going in. This movie feels like the pathological lying kid trying way too hard to be cool. Doesn't know what it wants to be, and falls flat on its face for it....ugh can't believe I spent this much time and energy writing this. Good god I did not like this movie. Skip this try a Serbian film, Martyrs or even the green inferno (For those who would like some actual "terrifying" movies)

You know, I liked this movie but I truly did not understand why two people 'fainted at the premiere or why it's under the Extreme category on Shudder. It really let me down in terms of shock value and gore. I'd understand fainting during A Serbian Film or something, but this is tame compared to some of the *beep* I have seen.
