WARNING: This is a fake movie

Invasion of the Pod People

WARNING: this is a fake remake.

My girlfriend was tricked into buying a copy of this movie at the grocery store believing it to be a remake of the classic 1956 movie by a similar name,… it’s not.

This is a blatant misrepresentation “home video” packaged and titled to resemble a legitimate theatrical remake.

This movie is of such poor quality, they didn’t even use external microphones for the audio, or auxiliary lighting for the sets. In fact the sets look like they used an empty cinderblock storage closet and stairwells from an abandoned office building because they couldn’t afford to lease a furnished office, let alone a professional sound stage.

This is a straight-to-DVD video, shot with an amateur staff using sub standard equipment, and looks like it was edited by grammar school students on a laptop computer.

I wouldn’t even compare this with MPEG quality “home movies” posted on YouTube.

This movie was packaged with a 2 movie set which also contained “H.G. Wells War of the Worlds”, another “F” quality fake remake.

Event the hub of the DVD case was broken.

In fact, it appears that any title released by “Asylum” is fake.

It also appears that Asylum has a prior record of releasing movies with cover art and misleading titles which are carefully worded to “resemble” legitimate remakes and sequels to popular classics, and published to coincide with the release of genuine major studio productions of similar titles in order to intentionally exploit and profit from the work, marketing and publicity of others.

I’m not even sure why they haven’t been sued for copyright infringement?, except to assume that they somehow manage to evade copyright protection laws either by adopting titles in the public domain or “phrasing” their tiles carefully enough to avoid prosecution.

Needless to say, we returned this “video” and got our money back.

Beware of ANY titles distributed by or containing the logo “Asylum”.

Yes, there have always been “B” movies in Hollywood. The difference is, when Roger Coreman, Russ Meyer or John Waters released a title, you knew what you were getting. They didn’t have to disguise their movies to trick you into buying it.

Asylum is not only at the bottom of the heap, they have to resort to bait and switch tactics to get there.

Though I'll agree with you on the film and Asylum
