Do Om and Sandy end up 'together' in the end?

An argument with my brother in law against our wives (sisters can be so stubborn sometimes!)

In the final scene when OK and Sandy hug, is it a romantic hug suggesting they will be together thereafter or is it more of a hug of relief on both of their parts, and perhaps a more brotherly sisterly relation that develops?

Comments please!

No relationship in the end.

I say yes, a relationship develops. In my optimistic world, as Shanti-the-ghost leaves, so too does Om Prakash Makhija's spirit, which leaves Om Kapoor's body (thus leaving Om Kapoor's spirit in control). Sandy has helped him along most of this, and I do think he was fascinated by that bubblegum, LOL...

Besides, how hilarious would Om and Sandy the couple be on Koffee with Karan? In my head, they are together - but I'm not sure if this was what Farah intended.

Well there's that scene in when he apligses for snappnig at her, doesn't her pull her quite clsoe to him, and I THINK he kisses the top of her forehad, that definately doesn't seem brother-sisterly also there's romantic muic in the background. In some of the scenes when the are together you see him standing quite close to her, so I'm going to say yeah there was a mutual attraction on both parts. I think in a way it would make ense if the got together caue its like in his last life Om didn't get the girl and didn't get his dream of being a hero movie star. Next liefe all the thin om wanted he got, a nice house, being the lead in movies, the awards, so if the were gonig for the whole get what ou want in the next life pitch then technicall in the next life he should get the girl too. Plu in a way he got with his `shanti` only a ditzier, more fun loving version.

This is just what I have been wondering!!! I just did another post about it, asking whether Shanti loved Om. I just can't decide if Om and Sandy are more right than Om and Shanti, or what...besides wondering if Om and Sandy (or Om and Shanti, on some kind of spiritual level) even end up together. I really like the idea of Om Prakash Makhija's spirit being freed along with Shanti so that the new Om can live his own life with Sandy, though of course if that's what they meant I wish they had been more explicit about it. Oh, why must the ending be so ambiguous?!

Wouldn't it have been awesome if Shanti's spirit entered Sandy's body? Then they totally could have fallen in love again!

omg i hope they did end up together :) they just too cute!

oh wow ur right, there was no real indication that they became a couple at any point. *beep* I watched this movie a few timea and I never picked up on it I kinda assumed they become a couple. Sandy wasn't Shanti reborn like Om was but I think Om and Sandy do become a couple, thats pretty standard for Bollywood.

Everyone here makes really good points--at first when I saw this movie I was sadly not convinced that Om and Sandy would be a couple, but I'm thinking now that that probably is what the filmmakers had in mind. Because really if you think about it, Om first falls in love with Shanti because of her appearance alone; he's in love with her image up on a billboard. When he meets her, of course he's more charmed than ever, but I think we're supposed to consider that he's already so to speak in love with her. So really, if he's reincarnated and finds a girl with exactly the same appearance as the one he fell in love with before, he probably would and should feel just the same about this girl.

With the added bonus that she's, you know, alive and everything.

Exactly. And with Shahrukh Kahn, that's usually all you're ever gonna get. The forehead kiss is almost his trademark. And didn't he risk his own life trying to save, who he thought was, Sandy? Also remember that this movie is not about the romance between OK and Sandy, so don't expect them to confess their love for each other. No, they don't have a relationship yet, but it's certainly the beginning of something.
