why are they using a scene from Dreamy Girl in OSO?

in the 70's we see on the premire of Dreamy Girl and Shanti Priya doing the "ek chutki sindoor" scene on screen at the theatre, therefore its part of the dreamy girl movie.

later in the future when were watching the screening of the new remake Om Shanti Om we see Dolly doing the "ek chutki sindoor" scene?
any one know why?

This is actually a part of the plan by Om Kapoor(SRK in the reincarnated version)to take revenge on Mukesh Mehra by making him remember his past and to scare him so much so that he would confess to his crime of killing Shantipriya. That is why the sets for the film was created in the same place where the fire happened.

This plan was the sole motivation for Om Kapoor wanting to work in the film Om Shanti Om as is shown in the previous scenes involving Om and Mukesh a.k.a Mike.

The scene that you are referring to would definitely remind him of olden days and Shantipriya the superstar.

ahh DDLJ your misunderstanding me, trust me i understand the plot, but this part doesnt make sense.
in DREAMY GIRL, Shanti did a "ek chutki sindoor" scene, right?

then in the screen room in the future (with Om Kapoor) Dolly did the "ek chutki sindoor" scene for the remake of OM SHANTI OM, get it?

why would Dolly's be acting out the same scene from Dreamy Girl, to be put in the new Om Shanti Om movie.

They were not using the same scene, just the same dialogue. I think - and I'm pretty sure - the filmmakers made this dialogue part of the new film as well, to make a joke out of the fact that in Hindi cinema a lot of these cliched preachy dialogues are repeated endlessly in numerous films.

Thats a better explanation in keeping with the nature of the film where Farah pokes fun at every possible cliche in Hindi cinema.

Also, I just realised....the sindoor reference happens in the scene between Shanti and Mukesh ( which is overheard by Om Prakash)...so, maybe double meanings intended...

what DDLJ said, shanti says the sindoor dialog in the dressing room to mukesh, so om in the movie shoot rewrote and condensed that to one scene where she says sindoor, then film version of mukesh rants bout her sindoor destroying his life's work

so it all made perfect sense!
