Yeah just saw it this last weekend and it was very entertaining and parts of it were done brilliantly....you could 'see' him falling inlove and empathise with him totally.

i think i like it more after letting it marinate a bit. the story was a bit far fetched, but i enjoyed this updated noir without all the retro-campy cliches.

i agreed with you initially, but now think it may be worth a 2nd viewing after all.

Right. It was great! Yet, it could have done without the "this is like a film noir" comments in the movie. No need to be glib about your own movie.
Life is glib enough as it is.

And it actually played better on DVD to me than when I saw it in the theater. Don't know why. Just the way it is.

Thought it was pretty good as well. I initially laughed when the real Sebastian showed up and they do the 'here's how he REALLY survived!' flashback. It didn't make sense until the diamonds came into play (which in my opinion was a bit late - they should have at least hinted at it earlier so it's not so out 'out of nowhere' twist at the end.)

Some things were far fetched, yeah. But the black comedy was right on the mark the whole movie. Lots of twisted yet well meaning scenarios. But in the end, it's a film noir, and as such it's a damn fine film...

I wouldn't call it amazing, but is a very good film indeed
