I would have thought it'd be easy for anyone to pick up???

The real Sebastian was involved in a diamond deal gone bad with some triads in Asia - thats why he decided to attempt to kill himself and Julia - because the only way out was death.

At the end Jonas is carrying the suitcase used to smuggle the diamonds - which is why the triads thought it was the real Sebastian.

electrified- good of you to answer the poster but you should have left out the first sentence. what good does it do to be snide? have you never asked for help understanding something?
there certainly are many questions left by this film. do tell us how the asian guy ended up right where jonas was.

and how about the mette question of the other poster?

Wondderful comment, but I have a question how did he end up with the suitcase? I must have missed the part where he got it, unless they never showed how he did.

reply

if i recall correctly,he went to the junkyard to investigate the car for clues and then he got it out of the trunk of her car.

What I don't understand is howcome the jewels were STILL in the suitcase and Jonas had never seen them, nor Mette who looked through his things in the suitcase and found Julia's underwear. Surely they both would have found the jewels, especially Jonas, no?

i agree with your logic.but i think this is what's called a 'blooper'.either the director missed this logic or just didn't have enough money to fix it, or didn't care. For those of us with those logical rational minds, we just have to tell ourselves, "that's the movies for you!"

False bottom in the suitcase. Broke open when it hit the cobblestones. Duh.

ah HAH! thanks for the brilliant observations! my parents would be very disappointed to think they sent me to college to have such limited grokking ability!

The diamonds were well-hidden in a double-bottom department of the suitcase, only to be revealed when it was smashed by two bullets at the end.

reply

It's possible that the jewels were hidden in the lining of the case, and when the case was ripped apart by the bullets, the jewels were exposed.

Ah, thanks so much guy! Sorry took me so long to respond.

reply

No, you are wrong. Sebastian was going to leave the country as a fake corpse (with the diamonds) and then retrieve them once they were back in Denmark.

I guess it wasn't easy enough for YOU to pick up.

reply

Yes, but how the triads know his location? They followed him and waited for him to come out with the suitcase? Then how did they know who to follow? They never had a face-to-face with the previous Sebastian, who somehow managed to steal diamonds from them? Or do all white people look alike? The ending just does not hold up, as I understand it so far.

reply

if you want some logics: Only thing that could have happened is that Frank was jealous .. he is a cop and he got all the contacts to the triads .. so if he was jealous he could tell an asian killer about him beeing right there in right time

BUT: Movies are good movies when they do not show every secret leave something open this is why people like you discuss abot this is what makes a film interested even when you have watched it to the end ...

so you are welcome to get your own conclusions..

reply

assuming the diamonds hidden inside the suitcase were brought from Hanoi by Julia after she thought she killed Sebastian, I wonder how it passed security and customs on both ends. Is international smuggling that easy?

reply

Well Jonas had acted like Sebastian for most of the Movie. This must have reached the triads attention. Lets say they put a tail on julia, and therefor learning that her lost boyfriend had appeared in Denmark. Rest is history. I think that holds...
