I got this way back when it came out. Played a level or two and put it down. Kind of forgot about it. Picked it up recently and started playing it again.
The droid confuses me. Sometimes I think it's Vader, but then it's not? It's some kind of droid? Who appears to be on the apprentices side whether he's with or against Vader? I don't get that.

I know I'm posting this a year later, buuut...
PROXY has a built in holoprojector and a communicator. So basically people (such as Darth Vader) can call him up and instead of projecting a hologram (like most communication in Star Wars), PROXY temporarily becomes them in that he has an advanced hologram to give the full look of the person you're talking to.
The real reason he has that advanced hologram technology is actually to help Starkiller spar. He takes on the looks, mock personality, and voice of the person Starkiller is sparring with.
As for Vader...at the beginning of the game (and most of it), he and Starkiller are on the same side, but he has to pretend Starkiller is an enemy to hide the fact that he's been training an Apprentice behind the back of Darth Sidious. (Because he's trying to kill the Emperor and because of the Sith Rule of Two.) As the game progresses, Starkiller does start to renounce being a Sith and his master.
