This game is awful!

I preordered my copy, picked it up, played it and I'm completely disappointed! This game is absolutely awful. I don't know if I was just expecting too much after KOTOR or what but I wouldn't recommend buying it to anyone. I can't be the only one who feels this way, can I?

Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

I'm with you. The awful camera, unreliable lock-on system, and frequent load times really make this a frustrating game. It does have its gems here and there, so it's not a complete disaster. Maybe we'll get some DL fixes.

reply

This game is going to become a victim of "trade in" for me. I've beaten in and haven't had the urge to play again. I guess I just didn't enjoy it enough.

reply

Are you kidding! Got it saturday and have beaten it twice now, I can't stop playing it. I'm probably gonna play through it a few more times to increase my force powers.

I agree with you Monkey. This game was great.I also can't stop playing.

reply

right on brother, this game is amazing.

I think you people are just star wars nerds who expect way to damn much...you little girls

reply

I actually the game is pretty cool, I don't like it how you can't go back to the previous stage you saved it when playing it on PS2.

reply

i disagree... it's not as good as it could have been, but i still had a great time playing it!

reply

Couldn't agree more! This game is just horrible, what a waste of $60. This trash is going back to gamestop ASAP. Possibly the worst game I've ever played on the 360 yet.

reply

This game makes me wanna throw up! Unfortunately, I'm not talking figuratively; all that camera swaying gives me motion sickness. Also unfortunately, I kinda like it; particularly the dude's unusual style of wielding a lightsaber. Shien form, I believe? (And I do find it funny that Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's apprentice trained in the same style...)

George lucas is a money whore, instead of giving the fans what they want, and what they deserve considering they made him rich as god, he makes crap with choppy gameplay and awkward camera angles and makes more money.

reply

I thought it was pretty fun. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, though.

reply

i think the game is pretty average. I had fun with it, but it definitely is not worth a purchase. Its a pretty good rent. The story is interesting, but i personally love star wars lore.

reply

I agree the game is fun/average. I am a huge Star Wars fan and bought it(should have rented) mostly to find out what the official story between movies was. And while I am on m ysecond run through for the purpose of turning to the good side this time...I dont see myself plaiong it much more after that. In order for this game to much more play out of me it NEEDS MULTIPLAYER! I was soo looking forward to playing online ala the old Jedi KNight PC games....what a HUGE let down for me when I discovered there wouldnt be any. This game is to short not to have multiplayer.

"and now, im going home to sleep with my wife."

reply

I also disagree. Although it is most definately a let down it is not really bad. My biggest problems are:

1. The annoying lock on system. They should have made it so you could lock on then move to a different target with your analog stick.

2. The lightsaber combat. I cannot stand it when star wars games treat lightsabers like baseball bats and not swords. If i hit someone with my lightsaber it should cut them in half, not knock them back. It is rediculous!

3. Animations for force push. They just shouldn't be there. If you had like something in the air (like on 1 or 2 of the planets) then it would have been ok to see it because the waves picked up on it or something.

4. The annoying over acting of the Apprentice's voice actor.

reply

Ultimately I thought the game was fine. The story was superb, the acting was acceptable, it's definitely the best starwars story outside of the original trilogy and the best way to bridge the two series.

As for worst game on 360? Erm no. Not even close. Not at all.

That award would go to games such as SUPERMAN RETURNS, TRANSFORMERS, HOUR OF VICTORY, TWO WORLDS, BOMBER MAN ZERO, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, VAMPIRE RAIN, NASCAR 08 (you drive around... to the left... it's... pointless.) BLACKSITE AREA 51, DEFJAM ICON... the list goes on.

Force Unleashed has excellent production values, excellent graphics across the board, the controls could be better, the sound is second to none as per Lucasarts standard, voice acting is good but not great and surprisingly had minimal plotholes...

So before saying it's the worst 360 game, engage the brain. There's far far worse out there.

obviously not but he is responsible for whats released through his franchise and there is a lot of grievances about the gameplay

"we got reports of people getting stoned and playing spaceman in the streets" "yeah, us"

reply

I didn't have any problems with the gameplay. Ok, just one, the lock-on target set-up isn't very helpful. I've only used it once and that was just basically to see the character dodge. As for the rest of the game, I enjoy it immensly(yes I know I can;t spell) and I loved the voice acting. Great Star Wars story as well. Alot better than the prequal trilogy.

Ignorance is bliss, my friend. Don't burden yourself with the secrets of scary people

reply

It was awkward and repetitive to control, the story was rushed and undramatic. The environments lacked atmosphere. The cheesy pilot with the gratuitous cleavage Imperial S&M getup was such a geeky touch! I'm sorry - that's not Star Wars. Trying to make star wars sexy is such a manifestation of geek fantasy and goes against the feel of any of the films. Felt like fan fiction, not star wars canon which made it feel cheap and disposable.

Mostly, I only use the saber in boss battles, so the irritation that comes when you have to hit a common Stormtrooper more than once to kill him is often avoided (don't get me started on the guys with the spears, though, they always block my hits, for some reason).

The thing that used to annoy me (before I embraced the darkness and destroyed everything around me), was that if you had a convoy of Stormtroopers of all kinds ahead of you, shooting at you for dear life, and a simple robot (those small pesky things) behind you, you can bet your life that if you try to force-lock on an enemy, your character will for some reason turn around and forcegrab the robot, ignoring the troopers.

At first I thought it was silly to have to hit troopers a few times to kill them, but what the hell fun is it in not having any combos of any kind? Half the fun is chopping enemies apart. Even games like KOTOR required multiple hits with a light saber. What's the fun in always killing every bad guy with one hit? It's too easy and boring that way. Besides, when your light saber has a good augment and you character is leveled up most enemies do die in one or two hits.

I'll admit I like Outcast the most still because of the maps being more complex and having more things to do to finish a level.

I have never had a lock on go directly behind me, it doesn't always pick the enemy or object I want, but I have no issues with it. As for the Felucians blocking you, you have to kill the leader first.

This game has the best saber combat and force power use of any Star Wars game, all else is basic in comparison, even my favorite Jedi Outcast.

Yeah cause slave Leia wasn't at all sexy. Sorry, but the game doesn't even approach the sexy factor in the movies - at least RotJ. I'll agree that the cleavage was unnecessary because it seemed unbecoming of an Imperial officer, but the movies showed more.
Maybe I'm just too easy to please. My only complaint is that we spend too much time revisiting places we'd already been to instead of going to other new worlds. Check that. The Star Destroyer part was a pain. I followed the directions on screen and they didn't work. It wasn't until I threw the controls to the wind and just started screwing around with whatever looked like fun that I beat it. I enjoyed the story, the Force powers, throwing crap - debris, vegitation, bodies, etc. - at stuff, the graphics, playing around with lightsaber combinations, and all sorts of stuff. I didn't have any of the problems with locking that everybody keeps talking about, either.
But that's just my opinion.

Stand by for Ludicrous Speed......

reply

How is that any different than Leia in the slave costume? She was showing much more skin than that character.

Anyways I just got the game recently, I'm almost done and for the most part it's very fun but there are also some very VERY frustrating parts. I was really pissed off during 2 or 3 parts of the game, like having to bring that ship down.

LOL, you guys have trouble with the cameras? You all sound like n00bs, it's not crap like Ninja Gaiden, the cameras in Force Unleashed are fine.

It's a decent game, still like Jedi Outcast more, but the force powers and Saber combat in this game pisses on every other Star Wars game to date.

reply

i have the Psp version and i think it's a pretty good game. The loading times suck ,thou if you play it from your memory stick the last about 15 second less.I really wanted to play this on the PC,well still have my Battlefronts and KOTORS,plus Jedi Academy has mods out now ,where you can play basically every star wars event trough all six Movies..its called KotF.check it out!!

reply

The game is very repetitive. It's not fun to play after a while if all you can do is the same 3 or 4 move lightsaber combo and a few force powers. The AI is also very repetitive.

reply

Erm, their are far more combos than just 3 or 4. I don't expect a whole lot from the AI considering this isn't some kind of tactical FPS, it's good enough to make that game fun to play. Just because it's not a ridiculously great game doesn't mean it's aweful or not fun to play.

reply

The highlight is the story, that's definitely the most solid part of the game. It's just another button masher otherwise, fun to play but forgettable.
