I was recently on an airplane and I was watching the movie
"Enfin Veuve"-but, the trip ended before the movie and I didn't
see the end. Did Anne-Marie join Leo in Hong Kong or did she
stay with her family and remain a prisoner, as she was with her
husband?

No, she tells her family the truth, the day that Leo leaves for China. Then she just leaves and the son moves into her house.
2 years later Leo returns and the son tells him that his mother had not been seen by anyone since Leo left for China. Leo and his adopted Chinese son go to the house in the mountains that she once told him, she wanted to live in (remember? they argue about how he would build his boats in the mountains).
Wonderful movie.
