Moronic Civilian Commenters

Why do people who have never been in the military, let alone a combat unit, just assume that they know anything, or that their opinions on this subject have any value at all?

Does it really stretch the civilian imagination to figure out that the soldier next to you is your BLOOD BANK? The reason your blood type is on your dog tags is so you can get direct transfusion when you're pinned down and unable to get to an aid station for blood typing. Getting wounded is bad enough -- I have no desire to assume the completely unnecessary high risk in getting a pint of blood from someone in a group where the risk of AIDS, Herpes and a number of other fun STDs is astronomical compared to the general population. Yeah, let's recruit crack whores, too, and really send the Defense Dept medical budget thru the roof while we're at it.

Let's see you ignorant civilians line up to take blood donations from the guys down at the local leather bar -- let's see how far your liberal tendencies really extend.

As to whether this guy's opinion of the Iraq war actually mean anything ... please, don't make me laugh. His phony affection for the USMC and his willingness to expose his "buddies" to the risk he presents to them shows us his rather shallow regard for others.

This is just his little way of getting revenge for the USMC not jumping aboard to validate his "alternative lifestyle."

According to VA statistics, this clown is likely to cost the taxpayers roughly 40 times the dollar amount as a heterosexual male of the same age, over his lifetime. He scammed us once, and gets lifetime medical coverage -- my heart doesn't exactly bleed for him.

Come on... AIDS and STD's? I thought weve moved past this. The fact that your quoting outdated material speaks volumes. I myself served with a few Marines that were gay and it didn't bother me a bit. I was proud to be there brother in arms. As far as narrowminded people like you are concerned, we had those in our unit as well.

This *beep* does not deserve anything. There are plenty of gay people that serve which is fine but this man thinks gay people deserve a medal for it. Great you're gay great you're a soldier. Why does it matter!!! And don't make it seem he is a battle hardened veteran. The fact is that he served little over a month in iraq and did not seem mmuch combat. He used his sexuality to get out of his duty. This man hurt the gay soldiers cause everywhere

I don't want to discredit Jeff Key's experience ( or that of anyone else) especially if it is in an arena that I am not familiar with, but you don't have to narrowly survive a suicide bomber detonation to sense the quackery going on here.
