Martin's actions

In a flashback we see Martin arguing with his wife and telling her that he is not ok with just seeing his son every other 6 months . Then he takes off with Lucas and forbids any contact with the mother. Lucas misses his mom and tries to call her. But Martin won't have it. I thought it was really cruel and selfish of Martin to take Lucas away. And his actions bothered me even more when we find out that the mom died in an accident and Lucas never got to see her again or say goodbye.
Were there other reasons that I missed that led him to take Lucas away?
What do you think of his actions?

I didn't get why Martin would drag Lucas into his investigation, but I think it had to do with giving Paula and Evelyn another companion more than making actual sense. He knew it was extremely dangerous (Sandra went missing and her husband tried to kill him), and he had also destroyed his marriage with his investigating his origins. Why put Lucas's life in danger like that? His ex-wife also didn't deserve it. Jacinta did call him out on it, but he brushed it off.

I think a lot of Martin's actions were quite childish and petty. If he didn't get what he wanted, he'd throw a tantrum and leave everyone else to pick up the pieces. His father wasn't even really a bad person either, but that didn't seem to matter to him.

Wasn't Lucas' mom going to take him to her home in Argentina? Since some Nazis went to Argentina after the war, that made me wonder if she was going to be connected to the bad guys. That never happened, but I did keep waiting for some justification for Martin's actions, like you say.
