Am I the only one...

Who LOVED the way they set it up? First of all, I am a MEGAHUGE fan of Chris Brown and I was so happy to see him up there doing his thing, he was absolutely GREAT. I was never a fan of Britney, but I have to admit she was always able to put on a show. What happened to her?
Aside from that, I loved how they set it up! How they had almost everyone performing but for a shorter time, the fact that there WAS no host, and all the parties and stuff...
Why are so many people hatin? :S

Actually, there was no host. Sarah was there to break the ice after Britney's performance, but they both bombed. Thats aside the fact, I live by the saying "to each, their own", but, REALLY!?! This years show was like a train wreak on Cloud 9, so horrible you just couldn't watch it. Unfornately, your eyes don't get the message and your stuck watching anyway. Terrible, terrible show.

The actual MUSIC seemed like more of an afterthought, as most of the stuff performed by MUSICIANS was used as bumper music. What an absolute insult. The dance numbers, in all their lip-synched glory took the center stage, while bands like the Foo Fighters, for the most part, were used as a transition to go into or come out of commercial breaks. Linkin Park got a full performance, but they were one of the higher profile rock bands of the summer, so that's probably the only thing that can explain that.

Besides the lack of MUSIC, the show was also terrible in how it was just COMPLETELY disorganized. I'm not sure that having one host would have solved that problem, as this year's MTV Movie Awards seemed just totally thrown together as well, and they actually had a few days to tinker with that show before it aired. Also, and I just might be getting old here (I'm pushing 30 here soon), I didn't recognize a lot of the bands or presenters. Oh, and that brings up another thing. Besides being disorganized, the show looked completely unrehearsed. When handled correctly, that could make for some good TV, but we weren't dealing with people that were capable of doing something that wasn't scripted are written on teleprompters. It was just so amazingly sloppy.

Oh, and what the hell is up with the newer awards? Did they get switched with the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards or Something? Quadruple Threat of the Year? Monster Single of the Year? I can't remember what most of the others were, as I honestly forgot at some point that it was supposed to be an awards show. Like many others, I originally tuned in to see if Britney would sh!t herself on live TV or whatever, but after watching Silverman completely bury her a couple minutes later, I HAD to keep watching the show like it was a trainwreck you just couldn't look away from.

Speaking of Silverman, hadn't MTV learned its lesson? I like Sarah Silverman, and I thought it was great that she tore Britney a new one to a completely dead crowd. If anyone had problems with that, I think that MTV is much more to blame than Silverman, just because they should have known better and they should have known what they were getting into. Hadn't she hosted those horrible Movie Awards? She just isn't the person to throw out there in front of a pro-MTV crowd, and it's really just an indication that the higher-ups are more concerned with getting whoever's hot at the moment and not necessarily who's the best fit.

And what's with everyone going nuts over what was essentially Chris Brown's Michael Jackson impersonation? Sure, I can't do that stuff, but it isn't anything that hasn't been done before...25 years ago.
