Is this some off parody of pop-tech culture?

Besides the name being jPod, the boss of the "jPoders" is a turtleneck wearing, Steve Jobs looking guy named Steve.

I'm guessing the show will continue on this path with such tech companies and personalities.

Because it was just an assumption based on one episode.

I read the novel. If they stay faithful to it, then look for immigrant smuggling, marijuana growing, and ballroom dancing.
