Is it just me, or is Ethan an idiot at times?

Okay, I know if I go back throughout the entire series, I'd find more examples, but the one that sticks out in my mind is when he's Rock Paper Siscor Dueling with Alastair. Basically, he should figure out that the lights mean what Alastair is gonna throw, and yet he goes "Why couldn't you help me win?".....

Why didn't he, if he knew what Alastair was gonna do, win taht way? I mean, Alastair is gonna do rock, why not do paper? It's not freaking rocket science....

Babette was making sure he didn't lose. He didn't want to risk it.

Your right man...he could have won it.

Heat of battle I guess. He was visibly stressed and its one of those things where you go "what was I thinking" afterwards.
