You know what I love about this movie?

It shows Americans as heroes. In this time of rampant revisionist history, America-bashing and "Blame America First," Argo has the guts to tell the truth and portray Americans as they really are: ingenious, can-do, problem-solving go-getters who come up with brilliant solutions to very difficult dilemmas. Sure, there may be one or two tiny, insignificant inaccuracies in Argo, but we must forgive the filmmakers for them because they were committed to telling a straight story in service of the larger, overarching truth: America knows what's right, we are determined to bring peace and justice to people who don't have it, and we will defeat any enemy -- not necessarily with guns and bombs, but with our wits, our bravado, our acumen, our insight, and our unique understanding among all the people of the world how to save lives and change every nation for the better.

Sure, there may be one or two tiny, insignificant inaccuracies in Argo

>>There sure are, Prime!Falcon, and there may be those who disagree with you on your reasoning.

It really doesn't matter to me, Green!Falcon. Because, just like America, I know what's right! After all, I'm an American, so I must!

>>But what about those who aren't Americans and may point out more than one or two inaccuracies in Argo?

They're simply wrong, Green!Falcon, and they're misguided. It doesn't matter that everything in the movie isn't true. What matters is that the movie tells the larger truth that Americans are heroes. Remember what I said:

Just like America, I know what's right! After all, I'm an American, so I must!

>>Guess you've got a point there, Prime!Falcon.

You bet your boots, Green!Falcon. Come on, let's go watch Argo again.

>>Great idea, Prime!Falcon. I'll make the popcorn.

You're a hell of a great guy, Green!Falcon.

>>You're a better one.

[Together] HAHAHAHAHA! ARGO! >>HAHAHAHAHA! ARGO!

As I said (quoting word-for-word):

>>But what about those self-righteous, holier-than-thou people who aren't Americans and may point out more than one or two inaccuracies in Argo, and want to come down on the people who enjoy this Oscar-winning film, and obsessively check this board daily (because they have no life) to see if anyone has anything positive to say about it, and have a dog as their profile pic (which is apropos, since they're like a dog with a bone), and put everything anybody writes in little gray quote boxes so they can give their inane little responses?

They're simply wrong, Green!Falcon, and they're misguided. Everything in this movie is true. They're spreading misinformation and lies about a historical fact. Most of the "sources" behind their nonsense have been doctored in the intervening years to make Americans look bad. What you said about dogs with bones is entirely accurate: They'll (probably) never let this subject alone. But it's more than that -- they're also dogs in mangers: they're not Americans, they could never be Americans; American bravery, American ingenuity, American can-do problem-solving, the American way of life -- all of that, all of it, is a standard they cannot rise to any more than a Hindu can rise above his or her caste. Simply put, they're jealous of Americans. So they have to tear them down in an effort to make themselves feel better, or even feel adequate. And they do that to anything Americans make, do or say, including the Oscar-winning Argo. Now, I know that some dog in a manger is going to parse everything I've said, chop it up into little gray quote boxes like you pointed out, Green!Falcon, and bark angrily and uselessly in response. All that shows is his pathological need to make sure that every sliver of hay is wetted down with pee and smeared in shyt -- because he can't consume and enjoy it, so he wants to foul it in hopes that no one else will want to partake of it either, and that's really a shame. There's something terribly, terribly wrong with a person like that (perhaps autism), but I have no doubt that one day he'll stop to think about what he's spending his "life" doing and why, he'll ask himself if all his bitching is really making a difference or if he's just shouting into the void because no one cares, and he'll look to the heavens and wonder what has become of him. So the little doggy can bark some more if he wants, but for his sake, I hope he keeps in mind the fable of the little dog on the bridge with a bone in his mouth who looks down at his reflection in the water and thinks it's another dog. He sees that the other dog has a bone in his mouth, too, and covets it. So he barks at the other dog to try to scare him into dropping the bone; instead, his bone drops out of his mouth and splashes into the water -- and now he's lost both bones.

But none of that matters. What matters is that the movie tells the larger truth that Americans are heroes.

So it goes, as Father Kurt so rightly says.
