How thick was everyone at that school?

A vicious-sounding e-mail somehow magically gets printed off a computer and finds its way upstairs and gets strategically taped to a door, and not one of Poppy's friends twigs that 'hey, maybe somebody hacked into her account'? Did they think she printed them out herself?? Really ropey plot device.
