pescatarian, fruitarian - and vegetarian all the time?

Maybe I got this wrong but didn't Poppy tell she's a pescatarian from monday to wednesday, a fruitarian from thursday to sunday and a vegetarian all the time?
Well, pescatarians are like vegetarians, except that they do eat fish. However, if she's always a vegetarian this is redundant, isn't it?

reply

yeah she did say that, I always thought about those lines too being inaccurate, if she is as she says vegetarian - always then she cant suddenly decide to eat fish. So cant really have pesca and veg in the same sentence.

Some vegetarians eat fish, though it really depends on your moral stance with vegetarianism.

Was that sarcasm or genuine stupidity?

reply

Actually vegetarians do not eat fish so it is inaccurate. Vegetarians eating fish (or even chicken)is a common misconception.

reply

I know several people who refer to themselves as vegetarians who eat fish. Stop being so bloody stuck up, it's a fact. They may not be 'proper' vegetarians, but that is what they call themselves so get over it.

I'm anespeptic, frasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused you such pericumbobulations...

reply

I don't have a problem with people who call themselves vegetarian and eat fish. People can refer to themselves however they wish. I was just saying that actual vegetarians don't eat fish, and that the words in the movie were not accurate.

I am sorry you found my post as offensive as that was not my intention. I was just pointing out a fact.

reply

Vegetarians can eat fish and chicken, the ones who don't and do not eat any animal byproducts are Vegans.

Nope. They do not eat animal flesh, simple as that. You apparently do not understand the meaning of basic words.

reply

Nope. They are idiots who are using the term wrongly and there is no need to grant any regard to them.

It is tantamount to saying that you are a pacifist who believes in great violence. By definition, it is wrong.

reply

Well technically fish isn't meat. But as a vegetarian I would say normally veggie's don't eat fish.

reply

I too had thought about that. I myself am a vegetarian (I don't eat meat, seafood, or poultry, just to clarify what I mean by vegetarian).

I thought maybe Poppy's definition of vegetarian might have been simply no red meat? Like she never eats red meat, some days she eats fish, and the others only eats fruit? Oh well, just a thought. I know that some people's definition of vegetarian is different than others.

reply

I know someone who claims to be a vegetarian but ocassionally eats meat pubicly lmao.

Erm...I took it as an ironic comment that is supposed to be funny...Maybe that's it..

I just see it like Poppy dont really know whats shes talking about. It seams like its just for attention.
She just tries to seek attention by saying and doing stuff.

Someone who eats fish is NOT a God damn vegetarian. Why are people so stupid? The whole point of vegetarianism is that you do not eat any kind of animal. A fish is an animal. 'Meat' is just what refers to the flesh that covers the bones on an animal. A fish has flesh and therefore eating a fish is eating meat. What, it's different just because it doesn't live on land?

If you eat fish/seafood and no other meat, you are a pescetarian. If you only eat chicken, you're a pollotarian. If you eat vegetables and animal by-products (cheese, milk, eggs etc.) you are an ovo-lacto vegetarian, or what is now commonly just referred to as a vegetarian. The term 'vegetarian' actually used to refer to what we now call vegans - people who only eat vegetables and no animal products whatsoever.

I've been a vegetarian for three years now and it makes me so angry to see the hypocritical 'veggies' who preach about how bad it is to eat meat and then claim that eating a fish is OK and that it is not meat. How is it not meat? Fish are probably killed in one of the most brutal ways of all meat trades too - hauled onto a boat and left to suffocate.

And I agree with teenagedirtbag.

^everything xHeffalump said.
i used to be a vegetarian, i am now a vegan.. i get really annoyed when people call themselves veggies when they eat fish... you are a pescetarian! jesus.
the line in the movie really bothered me the first few times i watched it.. but i'm starting to think they purposely put it like that... to show that Poppy is perhaps somewhat of an airhead? or she just does those things to try to be all "hip" and sh!t and doesn't really care about them or know the meaning.

reply

oh my god people, it was an intentional joke

reply

Um... it was meant to show how "LA" and out-of-touch-with-the-place Poppy was. I can't believe so many of you took so much notice of it.

I think this line's mostly filler

reply

I can't believe that no one has even suggested that Poppy could be a pescatarian that didn't eat fish...meaning that she could be both pescatarian and vegetarian.

reply

I think that was the point - she was using all those big words and they were inconsistent so she was just trying to sound important without really knowing. I think it was typical of the culture she came from - trying to sound trendy/unique/whatever without really having a clue.

Either that, or whoever wrote it didn't realise that pescetarian/vegetarian are different. Not many people do.
